If for some reason this doesn't work out, sure.

I also got a nice package in the mail from George Graves today. Photos soon, but for now, here's a stocker:

I need some advice on the exhaust gaskets (or lack thereof). RealOEM gives 2 pictures of exhaust manifolds for the 745i. One is obviousely correct and lists no exhaust gaskets, aside from the rings that are set in to the manifold, #15 p/n 11621706800

The other picture listed is clearly not the correct manifold, but it does list a gasket for #3, p/n 11621723851

Should I use an actual exhaust gasket? I could reuse the standard m30 gaskets and heat shields, but will that cause a problem? I'm totally confused

Many things were accomplished this weekend!

Swapped the old S3.73 for an S2.93

Then worked on getting the exhaust manifold on. It's a bitch to attach because I can't thread in the studs and then slide the manifold over them; not enough room. The only way to make it all work is to hold the manifold against the head, try and line up the studs, and thread them in by hand. And then insert the copper sleeves. So to make it slightly easier I put a small slit in to the end of each stud. This lets me use a stubby flathead screwdriver to help seat the studs.

Hit with some paint to prevent corrosion

Ready with copper sleeves and anti-seize

                      And finally done!

It was also a good opportunity to mount the wastegate. I know heat management is goi to be tricky, and the e30 engine bay is much narrower then the e23 bay, meaning all the exhaust stuff sits much closer to the fenders and other parts. I ordered some gold heat foil and fire hose from Summit, and got to work.

The wastegate sits just behind the shock tower. After some crude measuring and cutting, I had the gold foil applied. There's also a brake hardline here that I was concerned about, so I wrapped it in fire hose. Sorry for the shitty picture.

Mounting the wastegate mean making a few modifications to my tools. The top nut is fairly easy to get to with a 12-point wrench. The bottom one is not, there's almost zero clearance.

Since I don't have a bench grinder, well...

I also took the time to reinstall the radiator, 10" puller fan, and alternator.

Absolutely loving this build, your attention to detail is brilliant

Quick question, what poly engine mounts are you using? I have rubber ones in my m30 swap(used from the car the swap was originally in) & i have little to no faith in them
