    M30 OEM Turbo project

Did some things. First off was an oil change since my old oil wreaked of gasoline after all the Miller BS and running rich for months. Nice new Mobil 1 15w50.

Next I pulled and wrinkle-painted the new charge pipe to match the rest of the engine bay. I also wrapped the area closest to the exhaust manifold in exhaust wrap to help keep the temps down.

Then I decided it was probably a good idea to check the oil bar bolts and do a valve adjustment, since I have literally never done either of those things in as long as I've owned this motor (which is 9 years...)

All the valves were good, if maybe a little tight. Set to 0.012" now. I also ordered new NGK BP7ES plugs which should be here tomorrow!

That sounds so cool. California should adopt that method.

Good news! I passed emissions... After taking out like 30ms of fuel from my idle and leaning it out to ~16 AFR :p

Also took the opportunity to "get the cat nice and warm" with a quick trip through wine country

Yeah that's correct, you can use the ICV in open loop or disable/remove it entirely and use the screw to adjust idle. Idle speed will vary with engine temp though, mine is a bit low until it warms up. I think mine goes from about 750rpm cold to 1000rpm warm.

Also use locktite and let it gum up if you replace the screw...) Closed loop is harder to get to be stable from what I've read. Open loop will not compare your real time afr to the target afr table and make adjustments, so tuning idle with open loop is a bit easier to get it to be stable. Once you get a stable idle using open loop then you can go mess around getting closed loop dialed in if you feel like it later on.

Hope that helps. Get that burnout vid up soon!
I was thinking about doing that (deleting the ICV) as I don't really like the way it looks attached to the m106 intake tube. Also I could use the manifold nipple for reconnect my evap canister, which would be cool.

    - Fixed the bucking on deceleration by running 100% fuel cut instead of 80% fuel cut
    - Still trying to work out my hunting warm idle. I got some advice to turn off the ICV, but that just causes the engine to die (obviously). So I'm not 100% sure where to go with this one. It's running in closed-loop mode right now, I might try changing that to open-loop and seeing if it improves. Otherwise it could be something else??

I have extra stainless steel heat shields for sale: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=383164

If you are running the factory m106 manifold, you need these!!

Well the good news is that I'll take it to DEQ tomorrow to get new tags (since they expired in October last year...) at which point it should be legal and driving. I actually took it for a spin Sunday morning and it did great! I need to adjust a few settings on the enrich map and idle control, but so far so good

So burnout vids will be coming... soon...

No, the shaft is keyed so that it can only go on one way. But here's what I did:

Took some of these 90* end plugs that are inside a lot of the various electrical connectors for the engine (these were from the aux fan switch plug) and fitted them to the three pins that are used for the Megasquirt variable TPS signal. Unfortunately the old plastic is really brittle and cracked in a few places, but it will work for now until I can find one at the junkyard in better shape.

Once the dust boot is installed, you can hardly tell the difference

Until you look at it in profile

    Plenty of clearance now :)
