haha It's my first e30 too so I'm pretty excited to get it on the road.

Also I've watched your videos on youtube and they're extremely helpful, I removed the gauge cluster today after watching your vid. Keep them coming man, they're really helpful since theres not a lot of e30 diy vids let alone good ones.

              quick update:

I removed the gauge cluster and checked all the wires for any breaks. The wires were all good so I'm going to just change the SI batteries and bulbs and see if that fixes the gauge problem.

Im kind of stuck waiting for now though because the rear calipers and SI batteries are in the mail for some time this week

I'm going to try to get started on the rust tomorrow in the mean time

Id reccomend painting those calipers! They look pretty now but they'll flash rust soon enough!

Also I have a spare rear subframe and spare rear trailing arms, with axles and Calipers from an 88IX that I need gone, for Free.99 if you want them. In Providence.

Also Join NE30 if your on Facebook, thats all the local E30 dudes.

So I finally got all the parts I've been waiting for.

I replaced the SI batteries and tested the dash in the car. I cranked the car over, but the tach still didnt read anything. I didnt start the car, but I figure it should flick on while cranking. The inspection lights are working now which leads me to think the batteries were part of the problem.

I have no ambient dash light, no speedo, tach, or temp gauge. Anyone have any idea?

Also I decided to rebuild my rear calipers to save some money and I dropped off all my core refunds and picked up an order from Turner Motorsports. I drove to their place because its only about an hour away and I have to say anyone thats close should go check it out. I got a tour of their facility including their race shop and got to see all kinds of beautiful bmws including their race z4. Those guys are the best and if you need anything taken care of ask for Doug.

I enjoy seeing theses detailed ix builds. Keep it up. Trust me the rust can hurt, but it will pay off to fix it in the end.

I feel like a bunch of people all started ix builds at the same time, I love it because everyone has about the same goals, but have very different starting points

I changed all of the fluids today besides engine oil and brake fluid. Some of it was pretty nasty and the transfer case fill plug was hand tightened at best, I'm surprised it didnt fall out.

Im waiting on a new rear caliper now, because the bleeder screw on mine snapped off and I wasnt able to back it out at all. I'm waiting to get the rear calipers in to paint all four corners, bleed the brakes, and get Tina back on the ground and take her for a little test drive
