    Cool, that's the hood vent that I helped N15 design using my car.

    I know it's minor and E30's are bricks, but you really want the air over the hood to be as smooth as possible. I'd trade out those beauty screws for rivets.

        Yes! You were the inspiration to go get one myself.

        Yes you're right on the washers... perhaps I'll change them in the future but for now it doesn't bother me

          Alright. Updates. I've been super lazy, strapped for time and busy with work and projects. But be assured, I love this car and have many more projects planned.

          Here's a project I've been putting off for literally years. DIY alignment. Leveled the garage floor, made stands from 2x4s and plates from 3/16 steel with stops on them to keep the car from rolling. Works perfectly so far to keep the suspension loaded and ability to rotate the wheels.

              Next step is fabricating brackets to mount a bar off the front and rear to setup strings parallel along each side, intersecting the center of the wheels. Then I can measure accurate toe and be able to adjust while the cars in the air, leaving the suspension loaded. Similar to the smart string alignment setup. I'll also make a universal adapter to use on my other vehicles, or friends.

                very cool. for the wire my friends shop uses fishing line
                something incorporating where the bumper bolts are might help. or a little bracket coming off that area.

                  That's exactly the plan. Popped the front and rear bumpers off and making brackets that bolt on in place. Also got a spool of fishing line :)

                    I wouldn't be doing alignment on a car I'd just jacked up tbh, you's be best with some ramps to get it up there with everything still settled.

                      That's the whole point of the plates on top of the stands. There's 2 plates with high pressure grease between. They slide and rotate magnificently to load the suspension properly.

                          I have a handful of suspension related mods/upgrades planned in the future and I want to start to test different setups. Not to mention alignments on my other cars or potential frinds/family/customers. It gets quite expensive around here at ~140 per alignment from a specialty shop.

                          Also, I kinda just want to see if I can.....

                              Definitely waiting to see how it goes for you.
                              These platforms + a camber gauge + tow plates + strings with practice i think can get a lot of cars dialed in.

                                I hope so! I've already got the plates and gauge and already done a decent job on my cars a few times as well as some friends cars. String setup "should" make it foolproof and easier/quicker.
