    76' 2002 Resto Mod DD

    Hello!

Just picked another 2002.... I plan on restoring this close to stock as much as I can. This will be a classy DD with hopefully good mpg. The other oh2 will be the hoon car.

I am pretty happy with the purchase, I picked it up for 800 bucks. the body is very solid.

Only has 72,000 on the odo.

    Onto the pics.

Full spare, Never been used lol

    Not bad at all!

    Clean

    Ac !? Cool

I started taking things apart. labeled most of the wires.

I plan on taking the motor out tomorrow and start the engine rebuild.

                      aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the engine is out!

                      no leaks?..... cool

                      Super clean!

                      Cylinder 1

                      Cylinder 2

                      Cylinder 3

                      Cylinder 4

Everything looks great so far mechanically wise.....

As for the engine rebuild, i am hoping it will be minimal. I will open the bottom end tomorrow and inspect.

Carb looks like in bad shape and possible side draft in future w/ a 292 cam. Engine plans might change.

M42 might also be a possibility but I fear it will ruin the classic induction noise and its heritage.

                      Bad news
Driver side frame rail is shot with rust
                      Pedal Box is shot
Driver side floor pan basically gone

I plan on making a custom frame rail
                      Restoring the pedal box

and buying some replacement floor pans from this place

looks like that engine may have been rebuilt. clutch is definitely not original.

go with the M10 and sidedrafts. even though the performance in not that much compared to a 38/38, the intake sound is worth the sound of admission. 292 and DCOE's is what i had on the last M10 i ran in my 75.

now mine makes a bit different intake and exhaust noise....

Thanks! I spoke to IE and got some valuable information.

I will be shooting for something like this.
