    Ex autocross/Dakar/alpina clone/...daily driver?

Hows that for an interesting title? lol

So the back story on this car is I bought it on a whim from a buddy to use as a daily for awhile til I got my e24 back from the shop. This had been his first car and started life as a euro 318i. For some reason he decided it NEEDED to be Dakar yellow and he had a couple buddies paint EVERY CREVICE. Engine bay, jams, trunk.. After this he found a wrecked 87 US model 325is and swapped the entire drivetrain over, then created a "wanna be M3" and added just about every handling trick in the book from treehouse racing eyeballs to ground control coilovers.

He did all this because he couldnt afford an M3.. well as life does as SOON as the car was finished he came across an m3 that was in his price range. So, because of the attachment he had with the dakar car he kept it hid away for the next 10 years! I knew about it and because he knew it would get a good home he sold it to me.

Pretty quickly I convinced him he had some dated style and I sold as much of the things on the outside of the car as I could to get back to just plain jane e30. Also sold the roll bar and the race seat for some door panels and pretty "busted" but working sport seats.

In the works are a full interior build with seats being covered with repro alpina fabric, a front and rear alpina spoiler.. and possible black alpina decals (cant decide if theyd be too much).

Ha, right!? It was laughably odd looking. Ive never been a yellow fan but for some reason this car has made me appreciate it.

So last weekend I got some Alpina goodies from Mel Abrahams!!! Heres an attempt at some nicer photos of the initial fitment... and yes the front bumper is hanging off the car mounts are on the way. Its a genuine euro but everything euro was ditched when the car was built sadly.

Ha, thanks guys. Over time Im really feeling the dakar as well.

The old spoiler was a Hartge piece and the new one is the alpina. My intent was to make sort of an alpina "tribute" of sorts, decals, overall essence...
