Yea, I just need something that is shorter so the ends of the bar aren't as close to the springs. I'll talk to you about them tomorrow at work.

Speaking of non-vanos "hot cam" set up.
Giggity giggity. I've got a set of super secret cams on the way. 256/244 (I/E) non-vanos style. Got them off of a guy on BimmerForums.com (highboostinM3). He was going to use them for his turbo car, but found out he had a crack in his head and is going to a Vanos head. He got them from a guy named Brew, who had them sitting in his basement for the pas few years. So basically I am getting brand new cams. They should be here on Wednesday and I am going to try and install them on either Wednesday afternoon or on Thursday.

            Thank you.
Oh, and tomorrow is dyno day. 12-2. Hopefully I get decent numbers, I know it is asking a lot since I will be on a DynoDynamics (aka heart break dyno).

Good luck dude!! I and a few other would like to see what the 244/244 cam set up gets versus the "correct" set up. But that probably wont happen :(

And i made 170whp on a DD in shoot out mode on a stock m50 with hot air intake, Mark D chip and triflo cat back. Im sure youll get good numbers!!

Another quick question, what are your compression numbers? Mine are like 215psi +/- 5 Im just curious what yours are.

I'm going to check the compression numbers tomorrow before I go up there and I'll let ya know what they come out as. I am really nervous too. My car is either going to blow up, or put out. If it blows up, time to order custom pistons and throw a turbo on there. If it puts out, time to finish getting the nitrous system together and put it on, then find 2 sets of GSXR 750 throttle bodies and blam-o. Either way it should be fun.

Well, dyno time had to get rescheduled for tomorrow. I'll have those compression numbers later this afternoon.

Ok, got some compression test numbers for ya. I didn't get a chance to do a leak down, and the motor had a little while to cool down (about 6 hours). Came back with ~237 (+/- 3 psi) on all cylinders.

Thanks man. Thats pretty high! I was thinking my motor had high comp numbers. Good luck and your nuts. Im in the same boat though. Im not gonna be pissed if my car breaks.

                      Good luck with the numbers!

Holy shit is it hot. When I was sitting on the dyno, the machine said it was 97 degrees. I was VERY surprised at how the motor responded to timing. With the VERY VERY VERY conservative maps that I got from M52Power over on BF.c I put down a WHOPPING 168HP/159TRQ. Then I played around with other parts of the map and then let it cool for a while and thought about how I should approach adding timing at WOT. Well, I said lets do it easy. So I started at about 3000 RPM and added 1 (yes ONE) degree of timing at 100kpa and at 95kpa. I was VERY surprised at the results. I only picked up about 20 HP and 40 ft-lbs. NO LIE. I will get the dyno sheets e-mailed to me and I will post them. Well, after that we called it a day since it was already over a 100 degrees and I still had to get back across town in rush hour. I still have a good bit of tuning left, but god damn was it hot. I'll probably let it cool down some before going back and finishing.

Those results were on the DynoDynamic. If I went to a DynoJet, then I would expect to make about 215 rwhp and 231 rwtq.

                              PiercedE30,

I've read some of your stuff over at e30tech and just read about this build. first thing i'd say is not to get your head down about any dyno dynamics numbers.

the shop i've dynoed my car at has a DD and they have to defend their dyno all the time b/c people just don't want to believe what they are seeing.

they have done tons of comparisons to d-jet numbers and have pretty much come up with an official DD to d-jet 'conversion factor', which is, add 16% to your DD figures. they say it's almost dead on every time. also it's useful to keep in mind if you are in that shootout mode and getting the implied crank hp figure...which is BS to a certain extent.

my first run was with a 2.7L SuperETA M20 with a ported 325i head, 19lb injectors, 272 cam, Miller MAF kit....care to guess? 127rwhp. I was devastated. Anyway, i knew the results had to be taken with a grain of salt because i had been at VIR a few weeks earlier and had made absolute mincemeat of any and all M30 competition. not only that, i was keeping up with the stock e36 M3's in all but the straights...with 127rwhp.

so here goes my conversion....127rwhp on the dd machine and then ran 165 crank hp in shootout mode....mulitply that times 1.16 to get 191.4, which is directly in line with what i SHOULD have been scoring given my particular mods and would account for the car's performance at the track to a certain extent.

anyway, i think your 'quotable numbers' are probably even higher than you mention here.

btw, i grew up in Baton Rouge and my whole family still lives there. Next time i get to town i want to see your e30. maybe in july....

Russian: Thanks man. Yea, I knew the DD is a "heart break" dyno. But it is the only load bearing dyno here in the area, right next to the Mustang Dyno over at Thunder Racing.
