Pretty sure I blew my radiator hose. Waiting for it to cool so I can check it out.

I found a source for parts! I got all 4 inside door handles (with trim rings & screws), shifter boot, e-brake handle, defroster switch, driver mirror switch, 3 lock pull knobs and a used axle for $60.
The right rear axle on my car was making some serious racket. I thought it was going to come apart on me while driving, so I picked up a used one to swap in. I had a 3.73lsd that came as an extra when I bought the car; I figured I would replace the 2.93open while I had the car in the air. I watched the guy pull the axle out of the donor car and I was very worried that I would have the same difficulty getting my axle out of the hub. Mine came out with a few gentle taps of the hammer. :) I guess I got lucky. One thing I did notice was that the replacement axle is a little shorter then the one that came out...about 1/4inch. There was plenty of play in the length, so I went ahead and installed it even though the joints felt a little stiff. Hey, if it comes apart, I have the old one. At this point, I don't know if the axle or the diff was the source of the noise. Either way, it is fixed.
Actually, the whole thing went WAY easier than expected. I did have a lift, a tranny jack and air tools which made this a one-man job. Without those, it would have been much more difficult. Lining up the diff bolt holes without the tranny jack would have been nigh impossible. Once I got the 2.93 out, I noticed that it is most likely either completely dry inside or shot...turning an output flange felt like rubbing rocks together. The 3.73 was nice and smooth. I changed the fluid in the 3.73 while I had it on the bench with Lucas 75-90 synthetic. I am turning 3000rpm at 70mph which is a little high for my preferences, but the around-town "squirtability" makes up for it.
Oh, and while I was in there, I went ahead and ripped my rusty old muffler off. The pipe>muffler weld had rusted through so the only thing holding it on the car was the hanger, fastened to the rear framerail with a 2" lag bolt. :hitler: I undid that and ripped the muffler off the pipe. Sounds MUCH better. I think I'm just going to get a pipe from pep-boys and clamp it on just to get the exhaust all the way to the back of the car before it dumps.Originally posted by mightywhiteytornado alley.

Picked up a valve cover stud at the dealer, applied for job.
Picked up a bosch filter and jug of Mobil1 10w40. Thats what I've used in previous M20s, let me know if y'all have another suggestion.
If it doesn't stop raining soon I'm going to the shop. Todays Agenda:
Fuel filter
oil/filter
valves
Run bentley tests for tps and some similar parts.
Fill up and add stabil.

Did a minor tune up to the M10 w/headers!
I mean valve adjustment and checked the engine timing!
What a difference that made to the way the car goes!
Its been 2 years since my last one and cost just 25$! ;)

Put in a 24" section of tailpipe to replace the muffler that I ripped off (with ma baer hands!) this weekend. Painted the pipe with flat black grille paint so it wouldn't look like a Midas special. She sounds good. The factory cat does a ton to muffle the exhaust. It's the best $14.39 I've spent on this car.Last edited by supra89t; 05-26-2010, 05:48 AM.Originally posted by mightywhiteytornado alley.
