Pulled the intake manifold and most of the top end off of the M50, and just drained all the coolant. Hopefully tomorrow I'll start unbolting everything and removing the exhaust so I can pull it and do a few things that needed to be done before it went in, as well as start my new exhaust system. Have to replace the rear main and weld the oil pump nut, and I'm having my headers ceramic coated.
Just sent a request for a quote in to JetHot for their header coatings. VAC Motorsports actually runs a service where you can purchase the JetHot coatings for your headers, and looks like it's only about $220 through them, so I'm pumped to hear back from them. I might actually just go through VAC to have it done.
Wasn't sure what was more frustrating, the fact that the previous owner zip tied one corner of this one because he didn't have the right plastic top or the fact my driveway is now covered in coolant...
Fan+Radiator=Fail.
Thankfully I've got a new one in, hoping for the best...
Flushed the cooling system and filled with 50/50 mix BMW (Blue) and distilled water. Took care of the "Idle hunting" and stalling engine that started up last week. Just a little Teflon tape on the ICV elbow cleared it up.
I bought mine! After damn near two years of no e30! I am once again a proud owner, this time of a 91 318 4 dr 5 speed with mint interior and no compression in 3 cylinders. Found a craigslist m42 and trans with 142k for 500.
