damn that must be exciting. so the garage is 10ft high? if you want a lift in the future shouldnt it be alittle higher? Im about to purchase my first house and im thrilled. a detached garage is next on the list and the wife knows it.

yes it should be higher....but 10' is the city limit. So 10' it is...
I have found some lifts that have a floor plate that are under 10'

A quick update. We had a nice warm spell here in Michigan. So some of the snow is gone and we even got to see the sun for a few days. The got a lot of work done today and said they will have it done tomorrow. Should have the slab poured before the weekend maybe.

            here are some pictures.

Nice progress. What style insulation are you planning on using? Have you effectively lost your backyard also? Kids will be mad at Daddy.

Not sure what the plan for insulation will be. Maybe a spray on expanding. I need to look into it a little more.

We will still have a yard....once i rip down the stupid shed and level everything off it will be good.

                  no kids anyway so.....

Ah so still have room for BBQ. Exterior? Clapboard or Vinyal is final?

Asking alot of questions as I am debating building a dual zoned one. Garage/Apartment for myself.

oh yes, lots of room for a bbq and all that. There is actually about 40' between the back of the house and the garage. So we have a big section that is the full size of our lot (50')

Exterior will be vinyl. The house it currently alum and I will change it over to match the garage either this summer or next.

yeah that would be a nice setup with a garage and apartment above. I ALMOST went with a truss that would give me a 12' x 36' x 8'(tall) room above but decided against it($$$)

I was thinking on the side with a double wall with Sound deadening material and Vapor barrier. I don't want to live above due to fumes tend to rise.

Radiant heat in the floor with a small waste heater for the garage.

The roof is fully shingled. The side windows and door are in and the shell is wrapped. The soffit is on. I bet they will side it tomorrow. The builder told me that the garage door will go in Monday and the slab will be poured sooner after that. Depending on weather a little bit.

Getting excited...already have parts to fill it up.

A lot has happened on the build. Everything is done except the slab. Right now the garage is being heated through the weekend and they are supposed to pour the cement on Monday. About a week to let it cure and I should be able to start moving things in.

here are some pictures. I will post some inside ones once the slab is poured
