wtf i'm looking at trading my boosted 328 for a e30 to boost and found what i thought was the greatest "budget" turbo build i ever found and was exited about starting one of my own. and after reading every post on all 40 pages i have to say this is the greatest "kick to the balls, mellow harshing, buzz killing, ref interupting" tragedies that i have ever read! i mean to the point of parting out the car...... this thread should be turned into a novel.... its sad....like a baby monkey trying to revive its dead mother sad!

edit: danny, was this a vacaville cop?

fuel likes to burn at any afr haha! i typically tune most boosted cars at 11.5 to 12 when they are boosted, and this was recommended by a few tuners that have much more experience than myself. We run our NA race motor (13.8:1) at 12 or richer to keep the combustion temps down during long stretches at WOT. Car ran much smoother and didnt really consume much more gas (at least it wasn't noticeable and we track our fuel consumption pretty well)

I like having it a little fat in case you get into a heat soak/poor gas situation, may no be 100% perfect but it does give you a slight safety margin. I really don't think that the fuel consumption difference would be huge between what he is running and going leaner. I believe i read in Grassroots Motorsports a few years ago that there was no dicernable differnece between running 11.5 vs 12, and the safety margin with being a tad richer far out weighed the small amount of fuel savings.

just some more food for thought haha! great project i bet its a blast to drive! hope you get that ticket issue sorted out, that is ballz
