The expansion tank looks pretty dirty in there, you should pull off all the coverings in the wheel well and clean it all (including the snake like cover that goes behind the strut), very easy place for rust to start forming.
I treat it like regular maintenance since a lot of dirt can get stuck in there.

My metal gas cap is original to my car. Pics of your old chrome one?
The pictures don't do it justice. This thing came back absolutely incredible! It looked better than new condition. It's beautiful!
The back is sprayed flat black by me
Finally get to break out the sticker :)
Here's how these are secured, little rivets.
Both installed
New air ducts, old on right
Assembly started
The difference between the M-technic bumper trim and the regular euro bumper trim, is there is a slight gap for the front spoiler to come in beneath it, but also on the end trim pieces, the bottom flap is cut. Eventually I will buy the new M-technic trim, but in spite of leaving for Monterey tomorrow early morning, I needed to make due. Another use for a dremel and sandpaper.
Makeshift M-technic on right, regular on left
Both corrections made
Very clean look
Assembled, ready to go on
On
How's this for fitment and alignment?
I'll do a little photoshoot this evening, but that's all for now. You really have to see it in person to respect how nice of a paint job he did.
I'm eventually getting new French Spec Fog lights, but for now I'm making fog light blanks from the ones I cut out originally.
For those of you going... See you in Monterey! :DComment

I take that back. Went and checked. Mine (1991) is plastic, but without the keyhole area. It must have been the 4/87 M3 that had the metal cap. The old cap looks very familiar.
MT-1 looks great!!Comment

Hmmm, so the M-technic valance requires that you keep the old valance under it?!Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205
