Getting so close to mounting this bumper. I haven't been putting the chrome sides together with the center piece because the center piece had the mounting holes slightly bent. I don't have any pics of it bent, but i laid the side down on my workbench and hammered it until it was straight. I was incredibly hard to get the bolts in but I got them in. It's looking awesome. I took out the turn indicators because the trim pieces go under them.
Here are the two bolts that gave me trouble
if you can see the 4 square holes in this pic are the ones that I had to line up. You can kind of see the scratch marks on the inside (they won't show in the final product) from where I hammered it down.
Here is the final result.
The final shipment with the rest of the trim pieces should be here within the next 4 days. I put a down payment on a euro early model valence and have gotten some quotes for paint jobs. I'm thinking of putting bright red flames on the valence.

The mail came a few minutes ago and I got some grey kick panels.
I've come to the conclusion that some cars had carpet around the speakers and some cars had an upgrade of kick panels. When I installed my kick panels I had to remove the carpet.
I hate taking pictures with flash, it makes everything look dirty, but I had to.
BEFORE
AFTER
If you notice the rusty screw in the kick panel, don't worry, I'm going to ACE and replacing it tomorrow... cause I totally know you were worrying

A red screwdriver from the e30 large toolkit arrived today. Replaced my dull grey one with it. Yet, another baby step towards the large toolkit.
The last shipment for my front bumper is still coming in the mail. The anticipation is literally killing me. The Estimated Time of Arrival is Monday though so if it comes early in the day on monday then I can instal it after school, if not i'll have to wait until tuesday. Tuesday at the latest though!
I took out the tray and washed it a bit too

well I came home to check the status on fedex.com of the last bumper shipment and i realized that today was the 9th and it said it was coming on the 10th. I was bummed but it's only 1 more day. And it was ok because the new issue of Roundel came, and my new headlight rings came.
I went to the store and got the connectors to go into the plug housing for the turn indicators.
Here are the rings.
Yea, they aren't as clean and nice as my custom made ones, but the way the system works, the placement of the rubber stoppers is crucial. And I got some quotes on having them chrome dipped or polished and it's not pretty, around the same price to get them brand new ($200). So that isn't happening. I actually learned that the OEM headlight rings didn't come in chrome, just painted silver. So that is what I will do. Paint them silver, but not today.
You can notice in this pic the wiper hangs off on the high beam with my old rings
So the new wiper rings had worse condition stoppers than mine so I switched them all out (very tedious)
OEM:
Custom:
Here are the new rings on. Position of idle wipers is correct now.
I actually found when activated, that somehow my driver's side headlight wiper has a shorter range of motion than my left, and my OCD tells me to fix it. So eventually I'll take it and figure it out but I have a bunch of homework to do and instead i'm writing this post.
This is a cool last minute touch I did.
When I went to Munich, my dad and I noticed there are two ways to mount a euro license plate. You can use the universal bracket (which i think looks like shit, and yes im using one now because its the only way to have it on a diving board but that will change tomorrow) or you can screw directly through the plate and use these color coordinated caps. Check this out:
Notice the black screw cap to blend with the number and the white cap to blend with the white background. I wondered for so long where to find these and some guy pointed me in the right direction. They are an OEM part and look like this.
Here is an example of where each screw might go and which cap would be used.
It seems miniscule, but it's pretty cool I think.
Oh, and I also learned from a BMW representative in Munich, that any euro plate with the blue bar with the Country Letter and stars on the left is a newer plate, and the plates like the one on the 1600 above are the older plates. So eventually I will be getting one like the 1600 has. It's kind of like how I have a Blue and yellow california plate and most people have the white with cursive writing cali plate. If you have the old one you can still use it, but newer cars come with blue bar.
Can't wait until tomorrow.
