With the car back home the updates should flow more regularly. My in-laws left early this morning and while it was nice to see them and hang out, I finally have a chance to try and prepare the garage for some work.
Yeah, there's a lot of crap in here.
The first step was to organize all the parts.
I guess when the car is in a million pieces, you have a lot of parts bags. I organized my new parts into the various tackle boxes and labeled them so I might have a snowball's chance in hell of finding them again. Hopefully the method to my madness will be remembered when the appropriate time comes.
The old parts were organized into different groups as well, but placed in the vast array of cardboard boxes that seemed to have a kegger last night. I can only assume it was them as the multitude of empty beer bottles couldn't have come from me or my step father-in-law. ;)
Of course I couldn't stand idly by with some of the tasty bits I've acquired not test fitted to the car....
The door panel is going to look good but the clips to attach the panel aren't quite deep enough. I'm going to have to explore and source some new retention clips. I did get the stainless fastener kit with the panels but I prefer the clean look. I'm sure I'll find something that will work. As always, suggestions are welcome.
The plan still remains for this piece too. bejbis is helping me out and making a stencil that reproduces the print on the stock cover. I will spray it in silver on the carbon fiber cover later down the line. I think it will be a great touch.
And of course there was a request for these...
And finally before lunch, I decided to get rid of the old cracked dash. I decided to remove anything of remote value off of the dash. HVAC duct work, wire ties, brackets and of course the valuable VIN plate.
I doubt I'll use them but it seemed a waste to throw them away.
so long cracked dash and hello freed up space in the garage.
After lunch, I'll head back out there and finish cleaning the garage and maybe play in the interior too.-Josh

Have the original design drawn up, then laser cut it in to some .5mm aluminium. It wont end up costing much more. Epoxy or double sided tape the aluminium design to the cf, and sand/brush the top just like you would after painting an m20/m40. It will look sick!
The rest looks awesome, really enjoying checking back at this thread.
Keep it upComment

Wow amazing build man! Just spent 1.5 hrs reading through it.. lol
I noticed in the last pictures before it left the barn, you guys had not painted the front IS lip??Comment
-
Nope. I left it and the bumpers in the barn. The bumpers need some repair, especially the back. It's cracked in several places but I think we can plastic weld it. J Anderson had a thread about doing that to his bumpers and it came out well, I'll probably follow it for guidance. The IS lip hasn't been painted because we need some flex agent. This would be the first time my uncle has sprayed flex so he's still researching it. I should get it back this summer.-Josh
