another forum gone

I just deleted like 20 users and threads from one IP Address... Wish I was a computer nerd who knew how to block the whole IP, but alas Im an idiot and have to manually delete 20 threads and 20 users only for more to be posted

Edit: and they keep coming.,...

IP 173.82.185.14 someone do something otherwise this place will be flooded soon

edit #2: 8 more after coming home from work...

spam is the worst. hope there is a digital hell waiting for those that create it.

There are dozens of us. Ok, maybe a dozen... maybe. But the thread count is growing and would keep stuff cleaner.

Had some more loading time issues recently, but they seem to come and go.

That's the most annoying part to me. I never know what I am going to get day to day.

I would like to mention as a sidenote youtube is great. A few years ago I bought a chassis that was new to me (first gen Tacoma) and everything I had to do I could watch a youtube video on prior over a beer

Also down to contribute to keep r3v going, but for now I'm sure you don't need too many cooks in the kitchen

The default feed/front page is what sucks. When you unsubscribe from all that crap and build your own front page out of only the sub-reddits you care about, it's hard to beat.

Probably Reddit and YouTube are worse. I think it depends on how they're used. I'm not talking about replacing. Supplementation, maybe. YT and Reddit are two of the largest platforms and they both compete with forums like this. And they can both be used to drive people here.

I agree that forums are great as histories and for general documentation. Maybe the best. So, just let the people at Reddit know about it. Even better to go ahead with the plan to organize/simplify things, making the forum index less cluttered, getting rid of and/or combining sub-forums, and creating a simple and effective means for obtaining the best information as quickly as possible (not a wiki, but maybe a wiki?). Make this place as easy to use as possible, because the people out there were weaned on Web 3.0, which means automatic videos, neverending feeds, and links to DIY sites that look just like the site they came from. This sites Web 1.0 goodness is like fire to Frankenstein's monster.



Long story short, a presence in those places will generate a greater presence here, which would be pretty coo.

XenForo is probably the best alternative to vB that I've seen. No idea what the costs and considerations to switching are, though.

i've yet to see a youtube vid that didn't gloss over or omit a real world dynamic. they can help but i've yet to complete something based off one alone. the forums always provided deeper and more detailed info.

you do have to research and read, which is probably where there is a generational gap in the tech and how the info is delivered. that's my old man yelling at clouds with clenched fist statement.
