I'd love to get another E30, but clean ones are too much $$$$$. I haven't had one since 2010 after the Levent and Turk picked up a 318is for me and did a bunch of work, then I sold it back to the guy I bought it from. He then sold it to someone else and this was it's ultimate fate.

To me, that's a good reason to get one - how many cars can you buy these days that hold their value or even appreciate?

I miss the care free, life by the pants attitude the forum had. And it wasn't all online either, we actually got together. And people were crazy enough to drive insane distances for shows, and other enthusiasts would help them along the way!

We all grow up and unless you are Blunt or have a chode we have families and our attention shifts to other things. That's a good thing. Everything changes, maybe you fuckers can make new legends? I don't know, I miss the old days too but I don't miss the person I was #trynabebetter

I went and came back (not that I was a legend). Facebook has really changed the world of forums, which I sorta don't understand. Reddit too, but I don't think as much. The communities on Facebook and Reddit don't seem as sticky or to have the same "community" as back in the day. That's a bit sad, but is what it is. I'm glad this place still exists though...

Because to get one like I shared up there, would be in the $15k-20k likely. It was that clean. And we already have both garage slots filled and neither are going in the driveway, nor would an E30.

I accepted a long time ago I'll just never get to have another one unless I just get some massive windfall of money.

I started on Bimmerfest, then BFC, and then found my way here. Funny seeing all these old names/avatars from a bygone era of my life.

Wife said we should find a "cute" e30 to use as a weekend car. Thought it was time to pop back in and check out some of the old stomping grounds.

I guess I'm lucky in several ways. Firstly, I live in the South where a car outside isn't a big deal at least 9 months of the year. I got a pricey E30 that I'm just driving. The M635 gets to be the pretty car, and I drive it when I want to, but the E30 is what I pick up the keys for first. That's been pretty fun, though I've only had the car 9 months so far.

Short of a personal financial crisis, I can't see being without either of my old BMW's, at least until I'm too old to enjoy them. But I've been gooning at BMW's since the early 80's. And while I'm not suggesting they're smart money, they're both holding or increasing in value. The Shark is worth more than twice what I paid for it. The E30 is probably going to remain steady vs. appreciate. It it does lose value, it won't lose it too much or too fast. That's pretty fun.

Haha, everything is in a holding pattern. The Gristle Hammer is still together and makes it's rounds occasionally. With family life and kids everything tightened up real quick with both time and money. I still scoop up cars when I can, especially e30s, mostly coz the market is insane and I want to have the shells, etc for when I do get time/money....and to have some projects to get the kids involved in when they're older. Of course I'm still daily driving my e46 330i....bought it in 2008 with 50k miles, now sitting at 328k miles and I'm gearing up to replace the clutch for the first time when it hits 330k, lol.
