I hope that you're not referring to Iranians as Arabs! That would be the first thing that any Iranian will be quick to point out. In fact, many Iranians detest Arabs (do a search on how the Arabs imposed Islam on the Iranians way back when)
It's true that most of the Iranian population is pro-western and living in fear at the hands of the dictators that hide behind the veil of religion and theocracy. I would guess as much that as 80% of the population is against the current regime. The other 20% are living under a rock or they are being paid off by the regime in some manner.
The current Iranian regime is like a bad girlfriend that you know you need to get rid of. You wait and wait hoping that she goes away but in the back of your mind you know that you'll have to pull the plug and get rid of her no matter how ugly it gets.
This would seem like an impossible task given the brutality of the regime towards its own sons and daughters. However, you have to believe that they can do it...They overthrew the seemingly untouchable regime in 1979 and it can happen again. The difference being that the Shah did not authorize his police and military to open fire on innocent civilians who want their voices heard.
Could Iran be a strong ally for the west in the middle east? They sure were before. At the time of the revolution, Iran had the 4th largest armed forces in the world and shared a ton of interests with the west and the boys over in Europe. We need to remember the strength of the relationship that the Iranians had with the US. I recall seeing pictures of parades for the Shah in New York City on one of his visits. When was the last time that we saw that happen for a foreign dignitary?
We are only seeing the brutality that is being covered to a limited extent by western journalists. Imagine what is happening behind the scenes to the poor bastards that want freedom.
Who do you turn to when you are being beaten, shot at, stabbed, robbed, and tortured at the hands of the government?sigpic

So what is really going on over there?
Are you insinuating that Israel shouldn't be concerned about a country developing Nuclear weapons that has vowed to "wipe Israel off the map."Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

No, I'm saying Isreal needs to stop fucking with it's neighbors. For a country that claims to want peace, they sure have a funny way of showing it.
Most Amerijews think Isreal is innocent of brutality and racism. That's half the problem. The other half resides in Isreal's neighbors.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Sorry to interrupt the heated debate but I just stumbled upon this and figured I would share.
6:03 PM ET -- "What I have witnessed." A powerful note from a female medical student in Iran, translated from Farsi by a trusty reader.
Hello,
It's painful to watch what's happening.
I don't want anything to do with what has been said this far, as I neither have the strength nor the resilience to face all these unfathomable events.
I only want to speak about what I have witnessed. I am a medical student. There was chaos last night at the trauma section in one of our main hospitals. Although by decree, all riot-related injuries were supposed to be sent to military hospitals, all other hospitals were filled to the rim. Last night, nine people died at our hospital and another 28 had gunshot wounds. All hospital employees were crying till dawn. They (government) removed the dead bodies on back of trucks, before we were even able to get their names or other information. What can you even say to the people who don't even respect the dead. No one was allowed to speak to the wounded or get any information from them. This morning the faculty and the students protested by gathering at the lobby of the hospital where they were confronted by plain cloths anti-riot militia, who in turn closed off the hospital and imprisoned the staff. The extent of injuries are so grave, that despite being one of the most staffed emergency rooms, they've asked everyone to stay and help--I'm sure it will even be worst tonight. What can anyone say in face of all these atrocities? What can you say to the family of the 13 year old boy who died from gunshots and whose dead body then disappeared?
This issue is not about cheating(election) anymore. This is not about stealing votes anymore. The issue is about a vast injustice inflected on the people. They've put a baton in the hand of every 13-14 year old to smash the faces of "the bunches who are less than dirt" (government is calling the people who are uprising dried-up torn and weeds) .
This is what sickens me from dealing with these issues. And from those who shut their eyes and close their ears and claim the riots are in opposition of the government and presidency!! No! The people's complaint is against the egregious injustices committed against the people.Comment
