I'll also say that I found what i consider to be a good article about all of this:

That article is just as rife with speculation and in this case, an assumption of innocence, as all the books written on the subject that the author keeps disparaging.

We'll never know what happened for sure because Kennedy was either unable or unwilling to tell the truth. But that article makes too many leaps of faith keying in on certain items, and completely blowing off other significant items. I wouldn't put much stock in it. Plus, it's a website that offers links to "pictures of executions". Nice.

A group of female political groupies hanging out in a remote cottage with powerful male political types is just a perfectly innocent reunion? If so, why were no wives present?

Kennedy wanted to slip out unnoticed to not ruin the party, but somehow Mary Jo was offered a ride home?

In this day and age, we know what a powerful position Kennedy was in with regards to Mary Jo. She may have been an ambitious career woman looking for a life of political power, or she could have just been star struck, but either way, Kennedy had a significant amount of power over her and one has to question if Mary Jo was in fact in any position to decline a ride with Kennedy.

It's all obviously very questionable which is why it is still an issue today. None of the questions have ever been satisfactorily answered and probably never will be. It works both ways, if facts or information can't be found, then there is an assumption of a cover-up, so the thing just keeps going on.
