Thanks guys. I really appreciate all the words of encouragement.
Recovery is coming along – but in the last two weeks it hasn’t been moving along very smoothly.
When I was in the hospital, none of the beds were long enough for my 6’2” frame, and while I was in the coma, my feet rubbed against the foot of the bed. On my right foot this caused a massive blister – technically called a “bed sore”. For the last two weeks I’ve had to stop PT(physical therapy) and switched to “wound care”. It’s almost all healed up, but it was deep and nasty. Yuck.
Next for PT I think I’m going to buy some free weights and a bench this weekend and get started working out more at home. I really shouldn’t complain about recovery physically. When I came home from the hospital I had to use a walker just to get around. Climbing up one or two steps wore me out. Now I’m moving around much better.
But my stomach has been having a hard time dealing with the real world of actual food. When you don’t eat for a month – things go all hay-wire in there. So I’ve been fighting a lot of nausea and crazy projectile vomiting. I lost 13 pounds in one week. And of course when it’s imposable to keep food down, it’s also imposable to keep medicine down. So…
The doctors (those craft bastards) sent me home with something called suppositories (instead of pills). Now, I’m sure Blunt has a medicine cabinet full of these little gems, but they something completely new to me. I’ll spare you the details, but, I’ve found that if I put on some Berry White, and light some scented candles the whole process of getting medicine into me seems to go much easier. Good grief….
Almost every day I find out something about the experience I didn’t know about. Like, I remember very little once I was in the ER. Things moved really fast once I got there. But apparently, and I didn’t know this, I was coughing up blood. Wow.
And other “little” things, like just the other day I found out that the doctors didn’t know if my brain had gotten enough oxygen before/during the transfer, and there was no way of knowing if I had brain damage until they woke me up – it’s little things like that can keep you up at night. But I try not to think about it.
Most all of my medical bills got sent straight to my insurance, but once in a while one or two slips through the cracks and end up in my mail. I only share this with you to show you what amazing care I received. I must have had a hundred people work on me. I’ve had an ophthalmologist when I had an eye infection, and dermatologists when I got a rash, anesthesiologists, Cardiology-pulmary guys. Speech therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists…You name it, I’ve had it. Man! I was so incredibly lucky to have all the people work on me that did. They saved my life.
Anyways, some of you might get a kick out of this. First bill is my “short” 100 mile medi-vac helicopter ride to the nearest trauma center.
And this bill is for the first few hours of treatment in a local ER before I was medi-vac’ed to a trauma center.
I’m not sure what the grand total will be – and I’ll likely never know. I’ve had so many tests and scans. Specialists, 24 hour care, ect…The ICU alone is very specialized kind of place. I was there for well over a month. My sister thinks the total will hit 7 digits. That sounds like a lot to me – but what ever it is – I’m just glad to be alive.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?

Wow I don't know how I missed this! Thank God you made it!
Very sorry to hear that something so bad happened to you. That's probably just a small percentile of the total cost. My dad spent 4 days at the hospital, along with a very intensive surgery to reconstruct/fuse his ankle, and it totaled $280,000!!! Luckily we had full coverage, but I think we still had to pay a good amount.
Good luck with the recovery, and start making those digital guages, so we can all fund your recovery fund!
Also have you posted your guages up on bigcoupe, mye28, or bimmerforums? The e28s and e24s use the same switches. I will be buying a boost guage, and either an oil pressure or oil temperature guage from you for my e24 project, if you make them digital.Check out Undr8d Empire on Facebook: www.facebook.com/Undr8dEmpireLlc
