This thread is in poor taste, even for r3v. there was nothing funny about 9/11. Those of us who were there and experienced seeing people jumping out of the towers to avoid being burnt to death not to mention those of us who lost friends/family are not laughing. That was a terrible terrible day.Comment

Thank You. I said this in one of my earilier posts but my father had a meeting on the 87th floor of tower 2 at 8am on sept 11. But that being said many of my friends have family that died that day as police and firefighters.
Since when is tragedy funny? I say that everyone that laughed at this thread is a complete and utter asshole.

This humor is not aimed at any one individually, but as a country, if we don't laugh it off, terrorists win. And I don't mean this in a Bush/FOX way. I think it's very important for our nation to move past this tragedy and be able to laugh at it and celebrate American unity. Entire country came together like never before, and entire country will pull through this. All family members and friends that perished in the events of 9.11 will not be forgotten, but they can't be used as an emotional crutch forever.
I haven't lost anyone in 9.11 events, so I may be wrong.Comment

No actually I havent. I did a paper on the Challenger in college...and it was a serious one. I never laughed at Helen Keller, I thought she was an incredible woman who pushed past her own limitations. She is actually an inspiration to many people. And my uncle has Pancreatic Cancer right now, he is one of the reasons I love cars so much and I will never take that disease lightly.
All that being said, I dont think about such things constantly, just on occasion.

Moving on and mocking are two very different things. I have moved on from 9-11 as I do not think about it on an everyday basis, my grandmother lived through Pearl Harbor. Does that mean she constantly thinks about it? No.
If we laughed it off in our cocky American way then the terrorists would have won. We needed to act and we did...granted that got fucked up, but if we didnt act that would have been even worse.
And who said I have an emotional crutch? I find all this humor to be in bad taste. And I find many things funny...but not the deaths of around people.
