Are tires like these custom made for these vintage racers? That can't be a normal modern race tire size.

Lately Ive been thinking about a Cayman S. They are pretty affordable now, but I worry its too much of a "new car" I love the analog feel, I dont like the feeling of a computer adjusting the inputs between me and the road

Where's your Mom's pictures of RR?? (Yes, get a Cayman S - so nice)

Just ran across a pic of the 914-8 again, so I dug up a couple more...

Two prototype 914s with 908 motors were built in 1969, one for Ferry Porsche and one for Piech. They were pre-production prototypes and test mules really, driven every day. The firewall was moved back behind the shock towers to fit the engine in. Note the driveshaft angle, going forward to the hub. Porsche's had Webers and was detuned, Piech's had a full 908 race motor.

They're not the prettiest things - several oddball details before they had the final production design worked out - but they must have been something to hear.

I didn't know there were only 11 Factory-built GTs. All the others were built with the factory M471 parts package.

“Emory Special”, started as a particularly clapped out 1964 356 Cabriolet. Rod, his father, and a small team worked around the clock to finish it in time for the 1998 Monterey Historics, the featured marque of which was Porsche. Rod and his team left no stone unturned, no panel untouched on the Special. They changed the angle of the nose so that the headlights could be leaned back. They removed the upper horn grilles and turned the lower ones into brake cooling ducts. They added a front mounted oil cooler. They changed the rake on the windshield and completely replaced the dash. They changed the side profile of the car by continuing the curve of the bodywork underneath the car, giving it an incredibly smooth and slippery shape.
