NYC and Hillsborough, CA
Hillsborough is one of the wealthiest places in America and has the highest income of places in America with populations of at least 10,000. It is located seventeen miles (27 km) south of San Francisco on the San Francisco Peninsula, the city enforces a 2,500-square-foot (230 m2) minimum house size and half-acre minimum lot size to preserve exclusivity. As a result, there are no apartments, condominiums or townhouses in the city limits.

Vancouver BC is where I'd go to retire, when I no longer have interest in going on racetracks or any other hobbies that require open spaces.
I've been to most of the US and Canada and I had my pick of any place after university, including MS, NVidia and National Instruments sponsored moves to Seattle, SF and Austin, respectively. I love the Toronto area, so poop on the rules, this is my favourite city (not just downtown, but the GTA as one city). If I had to pick a place to live in the US, it'd probably be San Diego, with Austin second (or Galveston if I didn't need to work).
EDIT: For the record, although nothing draws me to the area, the most amazing people I've ever met were in Kentucky.Comment
