I am pretty happy where I am in Redding California. Smaller pop, 100 degree weather to snow depending on the season, mountains are 30m away and a couple big cities within a 4 hour drive. We've got our trash but they just rob and kill each other in Deliverance type mountain towns we pretend don't exist. I really liked South Carolina where my wife's family lives but that is the kind of place I'd like to retire to.

This is so much more difficult than "worst cities". And it really depends on what you expect out of the city.
I love Greensboro, NC. Small population, fairly clean, 7 colleges, moderately conservative. Great weather nearly year around. Roads are amazing. Plenty of night life and inexpensive to live. But that's all preference, I like smaller cities, as opposed to big municipalities.
I do like Miami and Portland (not so much city itself, but everything around it). I also like Charleston, WV. I always have fun going there.Comment
