you must be one of those idiots with reading comp issues. i was agreeing with terp about something completely unrelated to the thread i.e. abortion and our differing opinions on it. I don't really care about being PC or not but what's that got to do with the issues?? I'm done discussing with idiots who cannot have a discussion without resorting to regurgitating what they hear on Fox and doing no analytical thinking of their own. Terp and I probably disagree on a wide variety of issues but we can still discuss the salient points in an intelligent manner.Comment

Executing someone is more expensive, but some people deserve the honor of costing us more money, this guy is one of them. Why should we let someone continue to live who was sniping random innocent people, and making an entire city incredibly paranoid that they could be the next one whenever they were outside doing anything?
Not to mention, what if this guy joins prison gangs and kills more people in jail? What if he escapes prison (yes, it actually does happen, even from max security prisons)? The only reason to let him live is financial reasons. Here's another thing, the more people you put in jail the more jails need to be built, nobody wants a jail near their home so this ends up hurting communities. Building new jails is also expensive. This guy is essentially a terrorist. He had an entire area extremely paranoid because of his little outings, he shouldn't be alive, the risk is too great.
I fail to see how we degrade our society by killing people who commit absolutely terrible crimes that affect thousands of lives? I'd much rather pay a little extra to kill this fucker then to feed him meals and shelter him for the rest of his life thank you very much.Comment

Basically what the pro-CPers are saying is that if you've proven yourself to be of no value as well as a danger to society, we ought to get to kill you.
Shit, there's lots of people ain't even in jail that are of no value.
What I will never understand is how in some states drug possession will get you mandatory jail with no parole and completely fuck up your life, but kill someone, and you will get you parole in only a few years.
I agree that we need to go after drug peddlers that sell to kids, but to put a dude that smokes a little pot, or snorts a little coke, but otherwise stays out of trouble into prison and turn him from a taxpayer into a burden on taxpayers makes no sense to me. We are currently housing over 1.5 million non-violent drug offenders behind barbed wire at an average cost of 29K a year. Fuckin nuts.
Anyway, I've definitely seen some guys that I think the planet could do without, some in positions of power..... but while I'm no christian, I don't see how you can claim to be a follower of Christ and be pro-CP.Comment

I remember being at work when I got a call from my dad telling me that my uncle was shot at a gas station. I was in disbelief for a while. I wasn't really close to him or anything, but I still remember the times I spent with him rather vividly. Thinking of those times brings tears to my eyes, and I'm not really an emotional person.
I'm glad the dude was executed, but at the same time I don't feel he got all that he deserved. You can kill the man 1000 times over but it won't stop the pain the family members feel from the loss of their loved ones.Claus Luthe is my hero.

The entire system needs to be reformed to have punishments that actually serve as motivators and crimes that are actually criminal. But still off the murderers. Not because they serve no purpose but because they are a threat. Molesters seem to molest again (and often step it up by killing), killers often kill again. Those really horrid ones like serial killers get their nuts off on it, they will never be reformed.Im now E30less.

The problem lies in our prison system. People would not be demanding the death penalty if they knew that killers/rapists/molesters going to jail would welcome death rather than what they were getting. Lifers should have no reading material, enough food/water to live and nothing more, no outside time, no working out, no snacks or treats, no visits from anyone..period, and no interviews to glorify their actions on TV or print. Life in prison should be hell on earth, uncomfortable at all times of their existence.
Buuuuuut..we can't do that because all those groups protecting their rights and their lawyers who negotiated in perks for an admittance of guilt that would have been proved anyways. The same people who are protesting the death penalty as inhumane take it many steps further and say that it is inhumane for them to not have 3 square meals a day and recess outside with their friends. Fuck these people, these criminals don't have rights. The people they are defending would just as soon as rape and murder them also if given the chance, maybe we are executing the wrong group?sigpicComment
