Can you still wash your car but say in the yard where it doesn't drain in to the storm drain. I'm sorry for the such crummy laws you are having to deal with.

yes but it doesn't matter. the law is basically unenforceable. the cops are too busy dealing with robberies and murders to give a fuck about people washing their cars. at least I hope they are..

Wow, can you still pump your own gas in Washington? That sucks. I take it you still wash your car in your driveway, Chris??

There main stations have parking. The smallers stops do not. That is how things are on mass transit. In all my trips to Europe there where not huge car parking area's except the main stops such as the airport. I just hope they do not run that thing up into my area.

k, I would really want to know what the reasoning behind it is. Everytime I am in Chicago I drive up to northern Indiana take the south shore in. $1 for parking, some times free depending where you go, and around $10 round trip. The el train is a little different.

yeah lol this isn't quite oregon, we have enough government subsidies and stipends that we don't have to pay losers and drug addicts to pump gas for us. My favorite thing to do in oregon is to pump gas yourself, they get really pissed. :p

and yeah, I don't think most people even know it's illegal. Unless one of your neighbors calls in on you, there's no way a cop is going to ticket you for it.

Can you refuse to let them fill it? When I was there, they ran out and took it from me. LOL That's awesome.

If it really is no parking then it is completely recockulous. If its a pay to park its acceptable but they cant claim to be attempting to promote riding rail to ease congestion and save capitan planet.

The MARTA station by my house has open daytime parking and for-pay overnight parking and I would consider using them if I didnt live close enough for it to be easy for my woman to pick me up and drop me off (Im also going to the airport instead of just downtown for the day).
                    Im now E30less.

Ya, that's what happened to me.
I bought my iX up in Portland and was about to tank it up before starting the drive home and this random guy just came up to me and grabbed the pump handle and I had aboslutely no idea what was going on.

True, but most European transit systems are setup a lot differently. It's conceivable to walk, ride the city bus, or tram easily to and from the main train stations. Seattle is a bit tough to walk across and the rest of the public transit stuff is just scary.

There is an angle there somewhere, somebody is making money off of the forced government interaction. Either the bike shops, taxi companies, or the city bus company has been designated as benefactors of this government windfall created by the lack of parking. Of course, if nobody rides the damn thing because it's too hard to get to, it doesn't do anybody any good. Portland's train at least has park and ride stations.

A really good subway, tram and bus system would be a benefit to most cities. Unfortunately, most of them are government run so they suck. Plus, they are unsafe and nasty. Europe is a lot different in that regard.

The reason those people come running out to take the gas nozzle from you is because the station gets the fine if you are caught pumping your own gas. They aren't trying to take care of you, or trying to enforce the law, they are trying to keep from getting fined. Yes, it's a stupid law... but aren't most laws like that stupid?

The next time I travel via Oregon, I will fill up on the Idaho boarder, then again when I get to CA or WA.

I almost beat the tar out of some guy in Burns. Tried to yank my Credit Card outta my hand.

I had the same deal happen to me Jesery last summer with a company truck. I am trying to get the fuel card to work and this little chick, is putting the unlead nozzle in a DIESEL powered truck.

I flipped the fuck out, and told her to get the fuck away from the truck and I can handle putting fuel in my truck. Got the run around about how it was illegal and shit, I laughed I had NO IDEA that you could not pump your own fuel in Jesery. Well I got my fuel, and continued on.

I think the last time I calculated how much it would cost me to ride public transit daily was near $83.00 round trip per DAY. That's not reasonable in the slightest, not to mention if you're not just carrying a wallet, there's no way you can transport anything around Seattle. Have you ever tried to carry a 5/8's 4x12 sheet of drywall down 5 city blocks?

I bought my little 318is in Albany and had to get fuel (tank was around 1/4) for the drive back. Heh, the guy takes out the regular when I told him premium and starts pumping away. I correct him, he gets all pissy and when he takes the nozzle out he spills a fair amount on my filler door, and up onto my trunk a bit. I asked if he was going to clean it off and he gave me the nastiest look. I ended up just telling him thanks, and cleaning it off myself. Can you imagine him whipping out some form of kleenex and wiping away?

I drove away and was like, "Service with a smile, 'eh asshole?"
