The job market is really pissing me off.

If that was a jab at me, I haven't blamed the Government for what we are in economically. But this administration is doing harm by not making it easier on businesses so they can hire more. And right when we might be seeing a better economy all the businesses in this nation will have to start paying for a portion or most of health care for every employee. It's a big mistake.Leave a comment:

I can get a job anywhere in the country I want. The secret? Technical skilled labour. So many people out there want a job tap-tapping away on some government keyboard or providing power point presentations for meetings and other non-productive American business bullshit. The problem with this country is that no-one is willing to DO anything REAL anymore. So while you college grad suckers scrounge for work those of us who have experience fixing broken things that you can't fix still have jobs. And when you run out of money? You'll have to trade your prized e30 shit for food.Leave a comment:

All having to do with the business cycle that always finds a way of fixing itself. One of the things that would help us to come out of this funk would be to spend as a consumer. Then the question/argument would be; how the hell would that be if we don't have work. Well, like I said I encourage people to look and they will find.Leave a comment:

I still find it funny the republicans always blame the gummint for the issues of the day when things are fucked up but say not a damn word when things are great.
I say it is just another phase, it will turn around, no matter who is in the white house.Leave a comment:

Well the more they tax the harder it will be for the companies to hire. These companies would rather not hire anyone to save the money they would be later taxed. I know many of you know this. My UE ended about a year ago. Since then I started school and looked for work everyday, well with the exceptance of he weekend. I just thank good that I don't have a wife or kids. The thing is that people get demoralized and would rather just stay at home and do nothing. I just want to say that it is not impossible, I just got hire part-time at a supermarket. I am not making much, but it's enough to keep me alive for awhile. Just keep your heads up someything will come around, but it's up to you to find it. I am not going to be another person telling you thank your lazy and shit, but just keep your hope up.Leave a comment:

At least you guys aren't in OH or MI. This area has been in the shitter since 2007.. I know a lot of people are trying to blame it on the current government but that's rather misguided.
10 years of unchecked chinese currency manipulation and job outsourcing is what did it. Bush was too preoccupied with daddy's war to realize what was goin on here. Not that I blame 100% on him either, but he pretty much ignored the situation for 7.5 out of his 8 years. I don't think anyone but Google has the balls to stand up to China.
Google for president.
That's very true. But what really makes me mad is when the Government tries to implement stupid programs that people can't take advantage of and at the same time makes things harder on businesses. Then claim they are doing all they can to help with jobs.Leave a comment:

How many hours do you spend each day looking for work? I mean actively, nowhere near the TV, not eating, not on r3v, etc?
I found 3 jobs in 2 weeks before my company told me they wouldnt let me quit. Not McDonald's jobs either, they actually paid more than what I make now (which could support a family on a single income). The catch is Im not looking in sectors that are (and should be) in a shit hole right now.
That's great that you found a job super fast. I'm genuinely happy for you. The reality is though, just because you or anyone else has found a job in a different state than someone else doesn't mean it's easy or they are just lazy fucks. It's great that you can move from "sector" to "sector". Some guys, like myself, cannot. I've applied at nearly every fast food, Ma' and Pa' restaurant, high end restaurants in Seattle and Tacoma. I'm sure I didn't hit every single potential employer and probably missed more than a few oppurtunities.
Instead, I started a company. The focus of me posting here has less to do with getting a job and more to do with the current state of affairs in regards to getting business. It's a crap shoot and looking worse as things progress. I've opted out of paying UE benefits for myself with my company. Get this, I get taxed (albeit at a lower rate) for NOT paying UE benefits. I get fucked royally if I do though as the percentage is climbing dramatically. L&I (mandatory WA State accident insurance for workers) rates are going through the roof and my business insurance has raised from roughly $1,000 a year to nearly $2,000 a year.
*EDIT*
I want to clarify this was not written defensively. More informative of how my particular scenerio has played out over the past year or so.Leave a comment:

I don't live in Florida, so everyone in Florida telling me there's tons of entry level jobs, that's nice.
I get the whole, "Unemployment ruins your drive to go back to work". Really, I do. When you go from making $22.00 an hour though to being laid off, you don't just get to jump right into a McDonald's uniform and make ends meet. I get it though. There's "jobs out there". When you have a kid and a wife though, guess what? You don't just say, "no biggy, I'll go work at Walmart!!". You try and find a job that can pay at least your bills. You do what you have to, but to say there's plenty of jobs out there, if you're on UE you MUST be a total slacker and a worthless pile of crap is a bit much.
When you put down that you have to make $15.00 an hour and would like 40+ hours a week so you can break even and still live a tiny bit, Walmart laughs in your face. I could go pick fields for $7.26 an hour, but that wont cover my gas to get there. Obviously, people are making ends meet how and where they can. I don't like UE anymore than anyone else. The idea of paying into it and getting $575 maximum allowed amount checks a week is a joke. Sometimes you do need it to carry you through.
If you're so upos to UE, never file for it. Fairly simply.
P.S.
Anyone in the greater WA area need some work done to their house or place of business, let me know ;)

there's tons of entry-level type jobs here like food, walmart, etc., but the construction industry's been tanked for years.Leave a comment:
