There's been more than 1 person in here Leaf who said that your watches look like shit. Plus it's a moot point anyway since OP said a budget and u ignored that.

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

I wasn't going to chime in on this little fight with an 18 year old with his parents money, but I know tons of people like you and you all piss me the fuck off! You don't do shit but spend your parents money. You can debate it all you want, but your spelling and grammar prove it. Anyone in any profession knows the importance of grammar and spelling to get their point across, try to argue that with a professional business man.

One of my friends bought a Movado, just to try and prove how cool he is, seems like you do the same thing... For the same money, and probably less, you could buy a much better watch.

I'm not a watch connoisseur like mrsleeve, but I do know a little and Movados to me just seem like a huge waste of money to me... All they say is "Look at me I can blow money on crap even though I think its quality"

I myself have been looking at some Seikos. The one that I was looking at is a quartz and I'm wondering if someone could please tell me why to spend the extra money on an automatic if they are less accurate than Quartz? I always thought the automatics were more accurate.

I like it, think it looks pretty good. I've never really worn a watch but I'm pretty happy with it (what's your thought on it Sleeve?). I've only got 2 gripes, but 1 is pretty minor. The minor one is the watch dies if I don't wear it for like 2 or 3 days, VERY understandable for one that keeps itself wound when on the wrist, and every once in a while I'll look down and compare it to my phone and it'll be 1 or 2 minutes fast or slow.

i have this. great looking watch and not expensive.

i check this site everyday and you could get a good deal on a good watch

Simple Quartz Have no Soul. Mechanical watches are just a marvel of old world technology. Its the consistent smooth sweep of the second hand vs the jump stop of the quartz, to the actual movement that moves and works with spring gears and tension. That keeps time with in a few second a day is a wonder in and of its self. To look at watch pulled apart on the table you would have no idea that it would work let alone keep accurate time.

A mechanical watch is beautiful to watch how it works and is just something to appreciate in and of itself. Why do you think many mechanical watches have a display back on them so you can see it working. I have never seen a Display back on a quartz as there is nothing to Marvell at. I had a much longer and better reply up, but lost it so this is Cliffs version.

You tell me which is better

or this, Its prety much what all quartz look like, Has no soul at all.

Asking why someone would buy a nice automatic watch instead of a quartz is like asking why someone would buy a nice painting instead of a $10 wall poster or print. A nice automatic watch is a mechanical work of art that you can wear. It is a piece of mechanical engineering brilliance. Just like works of fine art, some people purchase nice automatic watches as status symbols, others inherit them as heirlooms, and others have a personal appreciation for their design, build quality and mechanical elegance and complication.

This thread is sweet, is there a "watches" sticky? I'm learning more and more, but I have no idea what the specific terms are, like I understand automatic and quartz now, but what about jewels? Or anything else, does anyone have a link of watch info so I can learn the basics and maybe read more to get on the same level? Or perhaps an extensive post by someone?

Do you guys really think Invicta is decent? I've heard the movements are only good for a few years. I think they have some beautiful (borrowed) designs and they look well put together, but what's inside may matter most.

I don't think a watch is worth buying unless it will be around and ticking in 20, 30, or 50 years when I want to pass it down to my kids/grandkids.

I think seiko is the cheapest auto watch that will last lifetimes.

I have a seiko diver that was given to my father for his 15th birthday in 1965 and I still wear it every once in a while.
