Here is my Seiko Arctura Kinetic, the original price was around $600 but I bet you could find it on ebay now a days for close to your budget:

    :

The only thing is Kinetics are technically a quartz. The charge the battery via a rotor like an automatic. But if you are going with a quartz Citizen Eco-drive is about as good as it gets, and no maintenance at all. I have a few that I wear from time to time

True it is a combined technology between an automatic drive and a battery; but in the end I don't really consider that a downside since I can actually take my watch off for more then a couple days and the time will still be correct. (nothing against reg automatics) And it still has all the mechanics of an automatic; power is just stored instead of translated to the watch instantly...

Haha yeah I know - used them in the past but I'm horrible at remember to put the watch on! So if it's my everyday watch I won't do it, but if it's a "nice" watch, I'm all for a winder!

I was at the track a few years running a Radical SR3 program and a customer left an old watch on the table in our RV, we were the only ones using but it looked like an expensive watch so I put it away in a cabinet just in case. About an hour later the customer was frantic looking for the watch about to tear the place apart, when I told him I put it away for safe keeping I wasnt sure if he was going to kill me or kiss me. Turns out to be some rare vintage Patek Phillipe worth north of $500k.

I just got my SK007 in the mail today. Spent 10 mins pulling a couple of links outta the band and getting it set right. Its not an Omega, Breitling, Patek, or Rollie.

BUT FOR THE COST IT CANT BE BEAT WITH A STICK. I love it, will be my daily for quite some time.

Will get some pics up some time tonight with my other recent watch buy.

^^Awesome, this is one I'm strongly considering. I'm debating as the Monster has a nicer looking band(and from what I hear better made) although the face of the 007 is much more versatile in my opinion.

BTW, what do you guys think of the marathon and luminox quartz watches? The lower end of the above seem to fit within my price range, and although not automatic, are still pretty cool.

yeah the pins from the clasp to the band are a little chinincy but over all not too bad and a easy fix with a different bracelet from another manufacturer or watch if the need ever arises (ie tired of fixing pins) for another 40-60 bucks.

Yeah Marathon is good shit quartz or auto, no matter how you slice it they are good shit. Same goes for the lum's I dont have a personal experience with them but know people that love them.

really outta everything you seem to be into for NEW prices any of the seikos with the 7s26 in them would be your best option, or put a little bit more with it and keep you eyes peeled on the bay for a ETA based watch by Oris, Hamilton, or Marathon. in decent used condition like the ones I pmed you

I'm a huge fan of Oris. I always plan to pick one up, but I get distracted by other stuff. Not sure why Oris isn't much more popular than they are. Great watches at a pretty amazing price.

Very very true thats a ETA 7750 movement, as is about #5 on my list to pick up when I get a little more stable with my career, and have a bit more disposable income

Matter of fact I am fairly sure thats the Dial side of the oris watch movement I posted a ways back.
