Paddle shifters. Honestly I commend you for your effort, but try these out, at least for the first year or so.
The kid wants to make a damn clutch lever so he doesn't have to give up driving a manual transmissioned car and you steer him towards paddle shifters?

No, you won't. You don't wear down the shoes at all if the car is stationary.

It will, but so does driving stick. This girl had her bumper 3 or 4 inches off of another car when she was parked down a really steep grade (think 20%), I was able to get her out of the spot without moving a single inch downhill using the ebrake trick. It's not too hard and it's really effective, you just have to get a little feel for the driveline.

so much power to you for wanting to learn 5 speed! im not sure if you have seen the video below, But maybe you could get an idea from it!??

not sure if this is true but sounds like it "He was paralyzed from the waist down when he had a bike accident at 17 then at 19 was his drifting debeut.
Sterring wheel accelerator, column foot brake, the sensor on the gear shift knob goes to a motor that actuates the clutch the e-brake has a sensor to actuate the clutch also the last lever goes the clutch master cylinder for doing clutch kicks "

My uncles right leg is fused together at the knee and ankle. He is 60ish and it happened from a car accident when he was 19. He drove an old stock VW bug that was stick with only his left leg. I will ask him how he actually did it, I have always wondered how he manged to get around in it, but I never actually asked. Maybe he has some tips.

there was a dude locally that autox'd a 330ci zhp, he was paralyized from the waste down.. he was fast as hell, he even changed his own tires in a wheel chair. he definitely had a steering wheel setup for gas and brake, not shure about shifting but it wasn't an automatic.

Seriously speaking though, isn't the clutch setup really just the pedal and a hose going to the master cylinder? Or does the hydraulic fluid only flow out of the master cylinder?

                          Quick lesson please :)

Nando, that's awesome to hear. I have great control of my left foot and like I said I can drive automatic fine... either right foot on gas left on brake OR left foot doing both. I can even heel-toe :)

there is a slave cylinder in the transmission, the master cylinder pumps fluid into it.

Yes I know that.. but how does the clutch pedal connect to the master cylinder? Linkage? Or is it hoses?
