Worst ticket I ever got was 127 in a 60 zone on my bike, the cop was polite and dare I say it, that man convinced me to slow down.

It cost me $1400 to learn that lesson, but it worked :D I take my speed to the track now, when I can

Summer 1999 on I95 in CT. Was playing GT3 before heading to a friends house. So when I got to the one ramp in Guilford heading to Old Saybrook I just started topping out the r3vs in every gear of my 1991 90 20vq. Sun was setting so I could not see behind me too well as I entered the free way at 90.

Saw the cop coming up from behind with no lights on at about 120, pulled over immediately an waited for the cop. Cop asked why I was in such a hurry. I said I was just being a jackass. He couldn't believe I kept going from 90 to 120 since he was behind me and was worried because I just flew onto the highway with out looking. I told him I saw the green camry in the left hand lane but couldn't see him in my mirror because the sun was so low. He seemed impressed and dropped it down to 80 in a 55. I happily paid the ticket.

Last Friday morning I had to go shopping for sodas for a club I'm in on campus. When I headed home from FodForLess, I was driving on a 2x4 lane avanue in the third lane from the right. I was doing around 40 in a 40 zone when a pick-up truck changed lanes in front of me forcing me to slam on the brakes. I hate when this happens, so I just dropped it in third and passed him on the left. As I was doing it I saw 2 motorcycle cops in the opposite lane, but I didn't think I did anything wrong, and I just kept going. Surely they flipped a bitch and pulled me over for going 55 in a 40 zone.
$211 ticket plus $64 if I want to go to traffic school.

Does anybody know how much it costs if I go to court and lose?
I know I speeded but I don't usually do it, and paying this fine will not change the way I drive at all. As I see it, I'd rather have that money in my pocket.

Ive never had a speeding ticket, or even a warning. I make up for them in fix-it tickets though... :(

Well, if you are any good at being respectful and persuasive with the judge, it can cost you nothing at all. If you lose your court case (the officer actually shows with a stack of case file) you'll pay the entire ticket unless you're super respectful and let the judge know you're in school and really had no intention of speeding, just trying to pass. The judge feels good, he/she can drop the ticket simply for showing up and stating your case.

Mobile Moving Radar detectors. The flaw in these is that they pick up large objects in their perview. For example, if a truck is cruising faster behind me and I'm in an e30, the officer could easily mistake his speed being bounced back to him for my own. Resulting in a faulty, ticket. I've wiggled out of two tickets with this case. One of which was totally valid as I was going the speed limit with a huge lifted Dodge flying up past me, and the other I just got lucky.

They were at the red light in the turning lane standing still, I guess they had an on-board radar or something.

Thanks for the info, I really don't want to pay like an additional $500 for court fees in case I lose.

I'm an honest guy and if I do something wrong I take responsibility for it, but in this case I don't feel I need to pay the fine. It's not gonna teach me anything. It would be different if I were driving 15 over whole day, but that wasn't the case, they got me at the worst possible time.
