have not had one in a very very long time. Closest thing I have had was back in 08, was heading to a job out east, was still in MT had just left the house about 2 hours earlier was between Browning and Cut bank on Hwy 2 running just off the limiter in the truck 95-96 (limiter is stock 98) in a 70, passed a state trooper going the other way and he just waved to me and kept going the other way.

This was on a sunday morning too at about 8am.

        95MPH in a 30 zone
Passing on the outside of double yellow lines
        Failure to use blinkers

Keep in mind, this was 25 years or so ago, I was an idiot:

        Wrong VIN on car
        Wrong plates on car
        wrong tabs on plates

        Driving while suspended
        No insurance
        No registration
        falsified documents

I swear, this cop kept writing for like 1/2 an hour.

This is headed south, back to San Diego from Mammoth CA.

I was jailed and released, both on Friday...but could not get car out of impound before monday. I made the cops pay for a motel AND meals as they had any money I had locked up in my car.

        Closing SOON!

              I have two.

              Oct 31st 2008.

First one happened literally the week after I finished my 24V motor rebuild. I was still breaking in the motor so I have no excuse :D I broke in the motor real hard so I was pushing it everywhere.

So there's a long stretch of highway thats straight between the Bay Ridge exit and the 65th st exit, I was heading east towards Queens. I decided to gun it because there's no shoulder so there couldn't have been any cops hanging out...OR so I thought. I was going about 124 and the car was still pulling real hard and I noticed about a mile ahead a black crown vic and I thought hmmm is that a cop??? I let off and realized it was indeed an undercover cop and slowed to around 60 slowly creeping up behind him. Dude pulls over into the right lane and starts tailgating me...so I was like FFUUUU.

Anyway he gives me a ton of shit (rightfully so) and slaps me with two tickets...104 in 50 and reckless driving.

Cost: $350 lawyer, $840 ticket, $825 NYS "Driver Assessment Program", no suspended license, 9 points.

              November 6th, 2008.

Cops were on the prowl for a week straight, I knew they were out because I used to commute to work. The whole week I would see several cars get pulled over!

Was driving along with traffic, people cruising around 65-70 in a 50 zone...Friend of mine was heading back with me but going a bit faster than traffic, his car is black as well. As we're going over a crest I see a cop hanging out in the grass and don't think much of it because I'm cruising in medium traffic...there's no way he could single me out. Well I was wrong...I see the dude get out of the ditch and I'm thinking MOTHER FUCKER I was just pulled over LAST WEEK!!!!

I get off on my exit and the cop walks up to my window says, clocked you doing 72 in a 50, license and registration. I give him my stuff and I don't even have a chance to explain myself (I wanted to say you've got the wrong guy...not smart lol). Comes back with TWO tickets!!! 72 in 50 and failure to signal while changing lanes!!! I was completely dumbfounded because people in NYC RARELY use their signals to change lanes. Anyhow, the ticket is still pending.

              Cost: $325 for lawyer.

Needless to say, I bought a radar detector the following week and have been ticket free every since. Anyone that does speed from to time should really invest in one of these...it has already paid for itself several times over. Saved my ass out of 13 potential tickets already.

              Sorry for the long story.

                    1st ticket:77 in a 55 (got a pbj in court)

                    2nd ticket:91 in a 55 (case dismissed, officer didn't show in court)

3rd ticket: following too closely (i fell asleep and rear ended a lady, cop never came to court, so it was also dismissed)

4th ticket:street racing (went to court, officer had no proof but claimed i was "spinning tires" so i got 1 point for negligent driving)

5th ticket: 71 in a 50, i'm def. going to court on this one. i pulled away from a light and floored it to merge into traffic. once i hit the top of first i let off (in my truck 1st gear goes to 49mph), and merged. since it was very slighlty downhill i didn't need to touch the gas to maintain speed. i came around a slight bend and an officer flagged me down on the shoulder, claimed he got me on "laser" doing 71mph in a 50 zone.

having not touched the gas since i let off just below the speed limit, it is not possible to accelerate another 22mph while descending a 3% grade in a distance of about 800ft. i may have actually slowed down slightly.

hopefully those are all i'll ever get......

and i'm buying a radar detector tomorrow....

Not really proud of it. I get tickets very rarely. But when I get one - it's a serious one.

To explain things - here, aside from a fine, you get points awarded for braking street rules. More than 24 points in one year means you have to pass driver's exam again (which is not easy here, no matter how well you drive). Typically a small ticket equals 2-4 points.

Here it is. Company car, hurrying for a business meeting. Cops were following me and filming my driving for 10 minutes.

There was everything - speeding (120mph in 50mph limit), crossing the double line (both for overtaking and F1 style cornering), overtaking from the right, and some other minor things.

The result (apart from entertaining movie) were 20 points and 350 USD ticket. They told me I was lucky - because of my almost flawless history in 12 years of driving they won't take my license away and won't sue me for deliberately causing danger on the road.

BTW: Those 2,8 Turbo Opel Vectra OPC things are pretty quick...

Not proud of it. Since then I prefer to call and announce being late.

Back in 1986,I had just gotten my new 86 325es for only about two weeks. Got nailed by radar close to my home for what the cop says was speeding.Total BS! CHP officer was being the biggest dick ever!
Week or two later goes by and see him off duty in a shopping center and he was driving a red 325es just like mine. That fucking pissed me off even more.
In 1988 I started a towing company. In 1991 I start to tow for the local CHP.Me and that cop eventually become good friends. I later hired his daughter as my dispatcher. Was one of my best employees I ever had. Funny how things turn out in the end.Still friends to this day.He long retired.

Got busted for street racing 8 hours after buying my current E30.

San Diego STOP team stopped my buddy and I.

1200 dollars of impound fees later, and a small fine for an 'illegal lane change' and I was on my merry way. It helped that I showed up to court in uniform. I was facing some serious charges.

Nowadays I drive much slower and safer.

Bout a year ago I got busted on my way to work doing 87 in a 55. It's a long twisty two lane road that's usually empty but there just happened to be a cop that day. I told him I was going to work and he dropped it to like 70 I think. Don't remember for sure but I think it still ended up costing me around $300.
