    well i certainly got lucky.

I was going back to school after a long weekend. So naturally i was excited to get back. i was clocked by a cop going 88 in a 65. Not too too bad, but in jersey its double fines for 65mph zones. (not sure if thats standard elsewhere)

So basically i tried to be as big a bitch as i could and try and get a warning. He gave me a 50$ ticket for "Risk of Motor Vehicle Accident". So instead of the 500$, i got lucky.

Learned my lesson though. the cop was cool. now i drive much safer, hopefully it sticks with me.

92 in a 55, I-94 eastbound a few miles east of Billings, MT in 1988. I just cracked a beer, hadn't taken a sip yet, when I saw westbound 5-0 coming towards me, nose diving under braking. I pulled over immediately, stashed the beer under some dirty laundry, and the officer gave me a $5 "conservation" ticket for waste of a natural resource (gasoline). I settled on the spot, got my receipt, and I was off. That beer tasted wicked good after that.

When I left that part of the world in 1996, Montana had a 55 mph speed limit; night only.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket.

I also don't speed anymore, grew out of that in high school.

Theres this back road in texas that me and a biker buddy decided to go down. I was on the R6 and my buddy on a 600rr with modified sprockets. Couldn't believe how fast he was pulling on me but I had him in the 130+ zone. anyway, speed limit was 70 and then drops to 30. We didn't even know it since we were slowing down from a race. Cop the opposite direction clocks us at 97 in a 30. My ticket was $845. No court, they just want the monies. The twist to all this, my friend just got back from his iraq tour. He got no ticket. Couldn't he had let his buddy off?

10/07/10; 78 in a 55 = reckless driving in Va which IIRC = up to $3500 fine, possible jail time if over 80, mandatory jail time over 90, 6 points, and it's a misdemeanor, which means a permanent criminal record.

Went to court, and hello! A friend of mine who is a lawyer was there repping several other cases. He asked what I did, I showed him the ticket. He talked to the cop. Got it knocked down to 19 over.

Paid $109 for court costs and fine. Another $100 to my friend and I'mm off with 3 points and no criminal record!!...albeit $209 poorer. Also, insurance doesn't re-new until May, meaning my 72 in 55 is going to be off my record so my rates won't change.

I've definitely calmed down my driving since then.

Got pinned doing 44 up hill in a 25 (school zone), while I was 16. Cop only wrote the ticket for 10 over ($89) because i saw him pull out so i pulled over before he even turned his lights on lol.

I had a cop try this on me once. But he asked me "What year car is this?"

                  I told him a '95 BMW.

He wrote '95 BMW. I went to court and said, "Your Honor, it clearly says here that this ticket is not for my car which is a '88 year model. Something just be mixed up here..."

Dropped. Weak case to have, and definately a long shot, but hey, it works sometimes. Ask Eli Manning.

haha well ive got overly sized tires which makes my speed off by like 5% and also i was cruising behind someone so i couldnt really be speeding that fast.

got my first one for going 58 on a 40. cop was really chill though. didnt take my license. ticket = $120. probably woulda been less if i hadnt tried pulling into a private residential area to try to "hide" from him.

Heres a great story! when I was sixteen I was in my friends GLI I was doing a tope speed run on the highway like an idiot, got clocked at 118 in a 55, ended up paying $250 118 hours of community service, and suspended license for 90 days. Almost went to jail instead. Needless to say, I only ever do about 5 to 10 over now. If that.

only $250? you're a lucky bastard. here they would have suspended your license for a year and given you a misdemeanor.
