Timberlands are over rated. Even if they supposively have a "Pro" line, its like buying a top end Huffy. Its still a Huffy in the end. Timberland sold out years ago.

My dad works in real industrial environments and he swears by "Die Hard" brand from Walmart. He's always wondering why he can't get 8 months out of them. But he won't change.

Worx are made in China and will fall apart and make your feet hurt. Just spend the money on real red wings or us made danners or something. Good boots can make the difference between a good day and bad day at work. If you live in your boots like I do for 12+ hours a day, cost is not an option for happy feet. That's why my boots are 400 a pair, but they last a ton longer than off the shelf red wings and others

Red Wings are great, I used to wear them always.

they do NOT stand up well to petroleum based fluids, we used to drill sometimes with an invert mud, which is Diesel based. that shit would kill a pair of brand new redwings in a 14day hitch...

that said, if you are not wading around in petroleum, they are sweet.

also Terra brand, "lites" are a great light weight boot, and the "Commando" are almost indestructible.

I used a combo of these 2 brands successfully for 5+ years in the Northern Canadian oilfields without an issue.

great comfort, I still have my last set of "commando's" 6 years later and abuse the fuck out of them.

            cheers,

petroleum is hard on all leather boots and anything else. You have to treat them well with a good leather preservative and treat them often. Especially when you are in Petroleum based shit and concrete.

Oh and "Worx" are the cheapest of the cheap of the red wing line. You are far better off with a "Irish setter" branded boot, which is still made in china

I'm in need of some new boots and I am considering a pair of Georgia boots. Anyone have any experience with Georgia boots? I tried them on at a local store and they felt good.

I know a couple of guys that like those. I dont they just dont feel right for me or at least all the ones I have had. I have hated them, last pair I tossed out after 3 weeks but that was almost 10 years ago. But if the feel good on your feet then you are all set.

One question WHY do YOU NEED insulated boots in CA???????????? You will roast the shit outta your feet in those. I wear unlined boots well into winter.

What are you gonna use them for??? What kind of work do you do, there may be better options for you.

Oh and wear them and walk around in them in the store for at least 15 mins before you commit to a pair of boots you have never had before. let them warm up to your feet and your feet settle into them a little bit to make sure they will fit you comfortably .

I'm going to Montana soon for a couple months for work, so I'll be out in the snow. I work for a general civil contractor. I'm a project engineer so I'm outside about half the time. I'm still on the fence on whether or not I should get an insulated boot or not since I won't be able to use it year round here in CA.

Last winter I was up near Mt Shasta and I wish I had a warmer boot up there. I figured I could buy and insulated boot for the winter months and find something else for the rest of the year.

when i was working in a warehouse that required steel toe, i wore CAT boots. I still use them when i'm doing heavy duty work. They're a little heavy, but grippy and sturdy. I have a pair of 5.11 ATAC on the way that from what I can see are very comfortable and light. i'll report back on those

where at in MT????? There can be a HUGE difference in what you need depending on where you are going. If you are up by me and I make it home while you are around I will buy you a beer.

I have winter boots man, I like Muck brand "wetland" and a heavy wool sock if it supper cold. other wise just normal socks. If its super cold the old school La Crosse come out.

So I am thinking these ones

But I liked the fact that the WORX were 5" esp since I have to pack them in a duffel a lot. Anyone have a source on a good pair of shorter than 6" metatarsal boots?

I'll be in Great Falls. Would you recommend insulated boots or uninsulated? The Georgia boots I'm looking at come uninsulated also. The "wetland" looks more heavy duty than I think I'll need.
