Don't know how's it in states, but here the profit of a gas station from gas itself is... slight. They make all the margin by selling hotdogs, sandwiches, car accessories, drinks etc.
But it's not a question of boycott. If I have a choice of getting gas at either Statoil or BP - I choose Statoil. My approach may be naive, but it's my damn choice, and I'll stick with that! :)

you aren't hurting anyone but the BP gas station owner by "boycotting" them. there's a 90% chance that the fuel sold at that gas station wasn't refined by BP, and they make almost all of their profits extracting oil out of the ground and selling it to refineries. By the time it's sold to a gas station, there's only a few cents a gallon profit left.Leave a comment:

The company I work for has equipped me with two fuel cards for my company car (you know - fill up, pass the card, drive off - cool thing to have). One for Statoil and one for BP.
