Bicyclists pay registration tax in WA?

I live in Oregon, and no, I drive a car. In fact, I own 3 cars. I pay registration on all 3 of them, which goes to fund road maintenance.

Well, write a letter to your local lawmakers to budget the installation of more bicycle lanes. IF you can't share of course.

I'm all for it. But in the meantime I pay wheel tax to pay for public roads in my state and the bicyclists don't and I shouldn't have to worry about getting caught behind a group of bicyclists dong 20mph when I need to get to work on time so I can continue to afford those taxes.

97% of those bicyclists own cars, and they pay the same taxes you do. This is why there are bike lanes. Your argument that the cyclists aren't paying taxes for the roads is completely invalid. If the taxes and fees I pay go toward construction and maintenance of roads, it doesn't matter WHAT method I am using to travel along them. Car, bicycle, longboard, foot, I PROVIDED MONEY for that roadway. And part of that roadway includes the paint and extra width to create a bike lane.

Not to mention in many jurisdictions it's ILLEGAL to ride a bicycle on a sidewalk since it's considered a vehicle.

I'm a cyclist myself, but I will say that 99% of the cyclists I encounter don't follow the traffic laws at all. It amazes me that there aren't more bike accidents around here, considering that 99% of the motorists I encounter don't follow the laws either. I will say that me and the cars are the only ones who signal and stop and red lights and stop signs.

I'm not sure if they don't know that bikes are supposed to follow certain laws, or they just don't care, but it does get annoying. I am always courteous to bicyclists however, because I know how it is to ride a bike on a road full of assholes.

My dad rides with a huge pack of cyclists (100+) every Tuesday night and he was telling me how crazy some of those fuckers are. One guy he rides with got arrested because someone in a car cut him off, then proceeded to ride his bike into the supermarket and start yelling at him, threatening him, etc. Cyclists can be douches too no doubt.

I have only one problem with bicyclists. They can use the regular roads all they want but where I live they get in my way on my commute to work. I have to go using a canyon which they are always on, A group of them always get in my way and never move, then when I pass them in the opposing lane and they get all butthurt and they start cursing and in the rare case they spit on my car or some other childish thing like throwing a bottle on my car. Im sorry but I cant follow them going 15mph. Dont know about Oregon but LA cyclists are very stubborn and they think they own the roads.
