My phone bill is about to go from $115/month to $70/month.

Word. Not only do I have access to a stupid fast network but Sprint is cheap (especially if you sign up for the referral plans). The g/f and I are on a shared plan with 1600 minutes and unlimited everything else for $120 for both lines (that is including the $10 Evo surcharge). And even that is a joke because Sprint gives unlimited to ANY mobile, regardless of carrier so we end up using like 30 minutes a month between us.

So for $120 a month we are basically getting two fully unlimited lines. $120 doesnt even get you that on AT&T for a single line.


Also, ROOT YOUR FUCKING PHONE NAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, waiting to do this was my biggest regret. You can get a netarchy kernel that will double the overall performance of the phone (as if it was slow in the first place) and unlock all of the cool shit like wireless hot spot for free.

Hmmmm My dad just went to Sprint with the HTC Evo too... Formerly with Verizon. I'm currently with Verizon and have no idea what to do. I love the coverage but I'll definitely hate the price when I upgrade to a smart phone in February. I'm looking at the Moto DroidX. Was using the Evo when he was in town a couple weeks ago and I have to say that thing is quite incredible.

I currently pay $90/mo. and I'm considering selling my iPhone 3GS to pay my ETF fee and going back to Sprint. The iPhone is a good phone, but it's not worth $40/mo. ($480/yr.) more when Android has improved so much. If I do I'll probably get the Epic.

I'm in the same boat with these waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffless from Charter Communication. I cancelled cable because my roommate was having troubles keeping up with the bills and THEY FORGOT TO GO THROUGH WITH THE PROCESS OF DISCONNECTING IT!!! wtf, then they try to charge me for the time it stayed connected. I wasn't having that shit, so I had to drive to the god damn east side to sort it all out. They were just like "just pay the bill in full and we will credit you next month" my reaction was to laugh out loud n respond with "Do you think I'm really going to trust your company to do that after you cannot even keep sorted who has to be disconnected and not billed" fucking a man. I hate monopolies (idk if att counts as one tho, cept for the iphone)

Sprint and VZW have a roaming agreement so they share towers, you can even hack the phone so that it wont give preference to any specific tower (meaning if you live under a VZW tower you wont have to wait for it to drop sprint and roam, it just picks the strongest tower available)

Sorry but you bought an underpowered, crippled phone. HTC can make good phones, its just that so few US carriers were signing on (although it appears recently they have been seeing the light with the Evo/Galaxy/G2/Etc). Now they just have to stop putting shitty skins on it (you know who you are, verizon).

Yes, I am running a rooted/deoxed version of the most recent update (it usually takes the guys about a day to root any new version released) on a netarchy kernel (its the core software under the OS, like a BIOS). This means that I have:

a. 55 fps in anything 2d, including just swiping around in the interface.
b. about a 20% boost in overall performance.
c. bloatware free
d. I can install ANY app, regardless of what Sprint has to say about it.
e. can have wifi hotspot in both 3g and 4g without having to pay the $30 a month if I wanted to.
[EDIT] f. forgot it also unlocks more finger input options compared to stock kernel. Stock is 2, netarchy is 3 or 5 depending on screen you have.

The Eris is the worst phone you could possibly have bought, it should never have been produced in the first place because it doesn't have the resources to handle the software. I have an Eris right now but next month I will be getting something much better.

pretty sure I've hated AT&T longer than any of you guys. It dates back to them buying out the local cable company (who had awesome cable internet service), converting to ATT@home, then going bankrupt and selling it to comcast (who degraded service significantly while charging twice as much), and then with my cell phone they bought the company I was using, and then sold their wireless services to some shitty company that went bankrupt, and then came back into it a few years later. WTF?

also, fuck iphones. if I hear somebody else tell me how cool their iphone is, I'm gonna sucker punch them. :p
