i've always owned e30's...but i do know sr's suck. theyre cheap. thats the only reason people swap them in. i've ridden/drove in countless 240's s13's/s14's and helped buddys work on and build them. i've seen multiple sr's spin bearings etc at the track, never seen a properly built (not hacked or half ass shit) ka-t pop.

    lol ok.

Do you know anything about those motors? Giant cam, headwork for days, and running 13-14:1 compression. There is a ton of material that can be taken out of a ka24e head.

Those are 24hr motors -- that's 24hr lifespan. Yes, they're awesome, but no one is driving a built ka like that on the street and having it survive.

Greaser's build was pretty damned extreme for the street and still made 210whp.

edit: forgot to mention most of the racing ka24es also had sidedraft carbs.

I have done both KA-T and SR, plus my share of single and dual cam swaps. Dual cam KA is a much better motor (and I have a lot of love for kae since my ka-t was sohc) but stock for stock, the extra headflow is very nice indeed.
Back in 1996 Steve Cook who drove a Nissan prepared s14 in GT4 had a KA24e.. not DE.. When I asked him why nissan built him that motor instead of the KA24DE he said that the single cam produce more torque with the same horse power. KA do not suck, its the mechanic behind them.

n/a ka24de??? i rather build a n/a ka24e(single cam FTW). i have seen more DE blow up then E, also the KA24E can take more abuse. it just need more aftermarket support.

I'm not trying to pick on you, but that's the sort of setup that makes me cringe a tiny bit.

Ebay manifold, pulleys, meh wiring/vac line routing, ebay radiator and hoses.

Yeah, I know it all works (and I still have that shitty fmic too), but there's no reason to dumb the stock cast manifold, especially with a t25 (stock maf, so I figure it's not upgraded), or have the pulleys or anything else. Radiator upgrade, sure, but koyos aren't expensive, and that's the cheapest I would run (I have a griffin).

You're absolutely right though, these cars are cheap enough that any n00b idiot can get one and starting hacking it up.

exactly. budget of 240s allows the average highschool kid who knows nothing about cars but wants to "drift" buy one. thats why there is so many fucked up primered cars with ghetto swaps.

anyways im recapping on my pride and joy before my e30.
Such an awesome car. built this when my boss went to jail. lol we took over the shop. real shit.

^Yup, it's true. Soooo many beat cars right now.

I'm asking a bit too much for my coupe, but it's a bone stock car with 70k miles. Figured it would sell quick but I'm going to start dropping the price pretty soon..
