Well, I get a monthly car allowance and a company fuel card, however it's only a 4 month placement (for now) so I don't want to tie up my funds in a vehicle I may not need long term. If I had 100% confirmation that I'm staying on full time I'd get a truck from them, so basically all I need is for it last 4 months and 40k miles, and countless hours idling with a beacon on. Basically plan is: 1) buy jeep 2) drive 40k 3) ??? 4) profit. I rather buy a car for one month of allowance, put another month in, and pocket the other two. I also don't think a lowered e36 will be well suited for construction and they may take it the wrong way, thinking "punk in a bmw" vs "sensible guy in a jeep."

They have some transmission Issues the ones with the 46re are good because thats basicaly a 727. The 5.2/318 is a great motor 100% bullet proof.

Thats because people like to tow in overdrive with them and burn up it up. All they are is a glorified 727.

You got me before my edit the 44re is not a 727. They came in the later ones though and were the problem ones IIRC.

                      86(?)-97 Nissan truck. 4cyl 5spd, maybe v6. 4x4. I have a 4cyl 95 now, it's great. Pathfinders are basically the same thing.

Who said I'm going to be sitting in a truck all day? Needs to run all day to run a beacon and light bar, that shit draws 30+ amps steady, and for this job it's mainly night work (bridge reconstructions and rehabilitation of serviceable ones)

I just assumed with the words engineer and idleing. Not trying to start an arguement just saying what the general people would think around you and how a car doesnt matter.
