I'd look for a V6 5 speed S-10. Or if you want a little more pep, look for a V8 Dodge Dakota.

My 1991 Jeep cherokee had the 4.0 I6 with 245k on the clock. I paid $700 for it and it was rolled twice, tipped once, submerged up to the windshield once, and slid into trees all within 2 years of me owning it. It never failed to start in the morning, and never failed to get me anywhere I needed/wanted to be. It also looked completely badass when covered in dirt, trees, and my misc road dwelling creatures. Best $700 I ever spent.

*Edit- I also jumped a giant snow pile and cracked the radiator, headlights and possibly my skull. Still drove like a charm afterwords :)

Sold it to a friend who's wife had a baby because he really needed a car.

I'm DD a full size now. I like both, but something tells me Danny would like the smaller trucks.

Yeah I'm not interested in something full sized. A cherokee/4runner would be about as big as I'd want to go.

a s10 is more realiable than the ford ranger unless you get the 2.3...which is gutless. i would suggest a cherokee 4.0 for suv, and a 4.3 s10 for a truck.

I couldn't give you a straight answer on that, i'm not into Fords that much. Sorry.

A s10 ex cab, 2wd and a 5spd would be a good option and what I would be looking for in his situation
