I know, I was scared to experiment since we only did a handful of runs due to crowd, police, pain etc. You can't see that the landing is HORRIBLE - they almost always ate it. Snow sucked too.

So guys I need a zoom lens for my Canon 60D I have come down to two options.
Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS USM II $2,200 AUD
Canon 100-400mm F4.5 IS USM $1,600 AUD
I think the 100-400mm will suit me better as I really want a nice long range zoom, but the lack of a low f stop make me wonder if I should spend more and go for the 70-200mm and loose some zoom.
Anyone had experiance with both of these or can add there advice on what they think.
Don't ask what I shoot, I am just an amiture who likes to do a bit of everything, so this lens will be an all rounder for me. For example I like taking photos of our dog at the park which I can get close to, while I do go to sporting events where I am far away from the action and need to zoom in.sigpicComment

Unless we know what you shoot then it's impossible to tell you which lens to get, all I know is that 70-200 2.8is ii is one of the sharpest and most versatile lenses
You could own, so I'd get that one if I were you. But like I said I don't know what you shoot.

well this prolly wont help ya but. I am waiting till I am going to be getting some time off for more than a week, but I going to get BOTH of those and prolly MP-E65 too, as soon as I get the word. As I shoot lots of landscapes and wild life I will put both of these to useSo guys I need a zoom lens for my Canon 60D I have come down to two options.

Why are you buying NEW buy off the used market and pricing will be about 2/3's of new.
I would suggest the 70-200 2.8 if your shooting lots of lower light medium range stuff with out a tripod. But the 70-200 is one of the best lenses in the line up for versatility
100-400 if your going to be going for wild life and what not were you cant get close and in decent lighting, or with a tripod or some other kind of support.

Yeh kinda what I thought, not really having a preferance for what I shoot makes it hard to pick lenses. I supose I can go to my local camera shop and try the two out see what I think. I am just not shore if the 200mm with have enough zoom for when the time comes.
Damit this is really annoying. mrsleeve let me know what you think of the two once you have them as I am in no rush to be buying one yet. I am also keeping an eye on ebay for used lenses that are coming up here and there.
Cheers guyssigpicComment
