I know the feeling I have been shooting a little here and there lately, but mostly just snap shots of stuff here and there. Nothing really not worthy or that I am really happy with.

I think need to do a micro A/F adjustment with my main body and my Tamron 150-600

How do you like that 150-600? I'm kinda looking for a longer lens.

For the money its really hard to beat for sure. I dont think my copy is as a tack sharp as some other peoples, but its very good like I said its very good for the money. The image stabilization is quite good though seems to kinda get confused once in a while when panning quickly, but I have only had it happen one time, and honestly that very well could have been me hitting the wrong button on the back.

Sigma has theirs out now to, in both the consumer verity at about the same price point as the tammy and the weather sealed sport verity for about 2k

I Will go though and find some samples for you and post em up tomarrow .

here you go Will these are all straight off the glass of the Tamzook most of which at the longer 1/2 of the zoom. Its a little soft above 480mm give or take but not nearly as bad as my old 100-300

I feel like I kinda cheated a little with the ducks because I went to a local park where there are mostly tame and can walk up with in about 2 feet of them while they are expecting a hand full of food

Those look pretty good. I've since upgraded from a D7000 to a D600/610 hybrid (recalled D600 with a 610 shutter) The 600 is a full frame body and the resolution is far far better than the 7000. Over the weekend I was out sailing on SF Bay with the tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain. I found myself shooting at 300mm the whole day. The lens goes soft beyond 200mm, but these didn't look so bad. Still, I could use a little more reach for shooting other venues.

For shooting airshows I need more reach than my 70-300 has.

Ok photo people, what the heck is going on here? I was trying out an IR950 Infrared filter. I focused on the subject, installed the filter on the front of the lens and opened the shutter (on a tripod, with a remote) This is what I got. Camera is a Nikon D600 (with 610 shutter) Its like the camera has a IR blocker or something. The image should be all red. Any ideas? I have a feeling the sensor has one mega strong anti IR filter on it.

A quick Google I think confirms your initial thoughts, as far as I can tell the D600 series in general seem to have a rather stout High pass filter, though the information I was finding was limited at best and is connecting the dots. If that is the case and I am fairly sure it is, changing to a different wave length filter is likely not to help the case as your sensors high pass filter is going catch it...

I've spent a bit of time googling this. I did find one guy who managed to get a IR filter to work on his camera, but it doesn't say what one he used. I find it interesting that I have the issue on the 600, but didn't have an issue on the 7000. I guess I'll have to get ahold of my 7000 again and try this lens and filter on it and see what happens. From what I know its the same sensor, just larger.

Hmmm, perhaps I'll have to spring for a dedicated IR camera body. It could be entertaining.

Finally ordered something to replace my Oly E-420. It was my first venture into the DSLR world, and I only spent a little over $200 on it about 4 years ago.

Ended up with a D3300 bundle, 18-55mm and 55-200mm vr ii lenses. I figured as being only my second camera, it should work well for my needs. Also this time around I can invest in better lenses and just replace the body as I grow. My schedule is changing to Tuesday-Saturday next week, so monday we are going to ride the train into DC and take the wee one to the Zoo. Should be a great opportunity to break it in!

Oh, and rules. If I remember, this was shot with the E420.

What do you guys do when you fill a memory card? Do you just go buy a new one and save the old one? Or do you transfer everything to be on a harddrive and then delete it all and use it again?

I keep all my photos on a HD and on flickr. I reformat the card each time I transfer photos after a shoot. Why would you only keep them on a small, easily losable card?
