Apple desktops and laptops are consistently better performing and more user friendly. Combine that with parallels or a windows boot program, and you get the better of both worlds.


Phone wise, nothing compares to the iphone in speed, quality applications, size, performance, design, and most importantly, useability. Apple's user interfaces are just better.

I went to a Verizon store at noon on the day it came out. I was told they had none left, and that I could check at the Apple store across the street.

Went over there and as soon as I walked in the door I was assisted and within 15 minutes I walked out with a new iPhone 4 with all my info transferred and a few brief classes on how to set things up.

My favorite part is the connectivity between the phone and my computer (PC guy). I think that makes it much easier to manipulate and increases the possibilities tenfold.

Plus, the apps are pretty cool. I love free games. And the thing is so damn sexy.

Two actually, my old one I gifted to my girlfriend and then I used my free upgrade to get another. I have had no realistic issues with either phone getting a full day (provided I am not playing angry birds or watching a video for hours) out of it. Not sure what you mean by "turn everything off" but I typically leave Wifi and bluetooth off unless I am in a place where I would be using their wifi (like home, friends house, etc). Bluetooth I only turn on when I am actually using it, which is pretty rare. Screen either set to medium or full brightness (dont like auto) and every ring mode vibrates.

The only times I got shit battery life were when I was on a PRI/NV or Kernel that didnt play nice with the phone. I'm rooted.

If I don't use the phone at all, then yeah it'll go the whole day on a single charge. But if I send a few texts, browse a couple sites, and check mail a few times, the damn thing basically dies within 10 hours or less. What I mean by "turn everything off" is all the stuff that makes the phone worth a damn. I.E., gps, 3g, push notifications, etc. I basically have everything but 4G, wifi and bluetooth on at all times. My old iPhones could go damn near 24 hours with everything on, so my Evo should, too. I'm rooted on 2.2 (I think, phone is in the other room). I've already had to take the phone into Sprint because it was randomly rebooting itself for no reason.

Why is it that my 1ghz Evo still lags when switching between screens or scrolling up/down a webpage, yet my old 3GS with it's 600-ish mhz cpu never lagged at all? I had to overclock my phone to 1.2ghz just to minimize the lag. Pathetic.

Phone speed or network speed? My EVO 4G consistently pulls down 80-85% the same DL speeds as iPhone 4G on the ATT network, using SpeedTest. Hardly makes ATT worth TWICE the price.

Applications? Yes, Apple has the advantage. But it should, it's had a few years head start, but Android apps are catching up fast.

Size? That's opinion. I think the screen is too small, the EVO screen is the perfect size.........for me. Again that one is opinion.

Performance? Do you have some objective scale with which to test that claim?

Design? Again, opinion.

Useability? I would say opinion, but the Android platform absolutely blows away the iPhone in terms of being customizeable. And that's long before unlocking it.

You have no idea what your talking about. First of all, are you comparing the hardware or talking about the operating system? Completely different topics. As far as hardware goes there are a lot of computer manufacturers to compare Apple to.

Most people compare Apple computers with the cheapest PC with the best specs they can find. Theres a lot more to a computer than specs. Comparing processing speed and memory is more of a sales gimmick now a days because no matter what you buy it's going to be more than enough. Less than 5 years ago high end computers had comparable processing speed and memory to bottom end computers that are being made now, yet operating systems and software aren't requiring any more system resources than they did then. Also, if you compare an an Apple laptop to a computer running windows with identical specs the mac will be faster and more reliable.
Macs also come with a lot of free, useful software that windows computers don't.

Put those computers you are comparing next to each other and you will see why the mac is a little bit more $. You can see it's build with better materials and better built right away. For example, mac laptops have aluminum unibody case as opposed to most other laptops which many flimsy, cheap, weak plastic pieces. The trackpad is the best i've used on any computer before by far.

The point is, like comparing cars, there are a lot of factors that the specs don't show. And think before you make outrageous comments like saying "macs cost 4x as much". Even comparing an Apple computer to a Dell the difference in cost is small and exaggerated by people trying to justify their purchases.
