Arizona's 65 MPH areas may go up to 75/80 in a year or something.
Heard about it on the radio. Everyone here drives 80 MPH+ it seems I guess that's why, but aren't some economy car tires only rated up to 60?

65 Mostly around here, but when you get closer to Phoenix it goes to 55.

Ryan you refering to: K-10 b/wn Lawrence and KC and the Turnpike- b/wn KC and Topeka, there you can go 85+ all day and have now worries.

Another autobahn is b/wn Denver and Ft.Collins people roll 90+ all day on that stretch.

Canada has whack speed limits its 100kph if I remember and in Northen BC that is absurd you can roll 100mph and have no worries.

And i'll 3rd the Hotlanta autobahn people start gearing up like 40mi outside town and just keep going fast and faster.

75 here. You can easily move 85-90 across Idaho though. The two lane roads you can't go quite as fast on. But, the turns make up for that. 8)

You gotta keep your eyes open though, I got a warning for "excessive speed" once when I was running late for class. He came up on one of those overpass bridges.
          Im now E30less.

Ok I can't resist based on Ryan last post, k-10, I was running late for an interview and I always snap my head and check the on ramps, and I way going b/wn 90-100 with 2 followers 2 vw's (1-1.8t, 1-vr6). I snapped my head saw the cops on the on ramp coming down the ramp I was passing a white van and jammed the brakes and slid in front of the white van and then the 2 vw's fly by me like im and idiot, the cop then pulls in front of me behind one of the vw's and the other cop pulls the other car over, the cop put his blinker on and kept slowing down and I come over the hill (long down hill the big one on right before cedar creek going to kc) and there had to be 10 cops all with cars pulled over, the cop motioned me over too, right as he was pulling off the road, I jammed the gas and moved to the passing lane, whoa my heart was pounding, he didn't give chase. I couldn't afford a $300 ticket. Oh and it was the 28th before memorial dayweekend, those cops didn't want to work over the weekend thats for sure. My closest call ever!

Personally I fell we should have more vehicle inspections and certify cars that can go fast, like everything else in america the rich would benefit, and it would be a $ maker for the states.

Northern California interstate highways in rural areas are posted at 70mph. However, folks seldomly stick to that rule. Great example: I-80 running between Sacramento and San Francisco....in the areas posted 70, everyone is doing 80+. I was running with a pack of cars where everyone was doing 84/85mph when we all blew by a CHP sitting on the shoulder waiting for a target of his choosing. He just stayed put while we all kept scootin' along.

And how would they certify that the driver is capable of higher speeds?

MA is 65 everywhere, some 55's. Nothing higher than that.

The only place that really blew my mind is the FL turnpike between Orlando and West Palm - I was doing 90 and people were passing me like I was standing still. I don't even remember what the speed limit was, 75?

"I was scared for my life doing 90 - I had no choice but to keep up, officer :)"

Just as they do in Germaney for the autobahn they are strict over there and therefore they get to push the limits of their cars, details are long, put more rigorious inspections and like Montana did with the no speed limit thing if they saw a car going a buckthirty would pull the car over and not issue a ticket for speeding but would measure tire depth and check, other safety factors, and write tickets for these things instead, b/c speeding isn't as dangerous on the interstate it is the bad cars that are dangerous.

Uh, ok. We have like 3 times the amount of fatalities on the interstate at a speed limit of roughly 65 over here than Germany does over there with no speed limit. It's the drivers. There are all kinds of crashes with nice cars - go to wreckedexotics.com.

Its really a combination of both. Crappily maintained cars, and idiots that either dont know how to drive and or drive too fast. It just seems people are more in tune with their surroundings over there and more serious about driving. Many people here just suck at driving, and one thing that really pisses me off is when they want to enforce the speedlimit (or less) themselves and block faster traffic. There's also the whole bigger is better thing going on here, suburbans, H2's, whatever the hell else, used for daily commuting. "My car is bigger than your car" who fucking cares. Oh, they do because they *think* its safer than a car so if they run into someone when doing anything other than driving like reffing the kids in the rear, eating, makeup, shaving, whatever, they wont be the ones hurt.

Edit - I would rather keep the speed limit roughly how it is for now and take my chances. I dont want a suburban hitting me at 90mph

                          Quoted for truth.

Unless they make passing an advanced driving school mandatory as well, I don't give a shit how fast I want to drive, it's how fast I want other people around me to drive.

Good drivers maintain their cars, and drive within the limits of the cars - even if that means going easier if the car isn't properly equipped to traverl at higher speeds.

                            edit:

That's why I like to ride around in a semi all day. No matter how big and modified their 4x4 is, they know who's boss.

You guys need to see what a normal commute shows in Arizona.
Highest amount of deaths in the country dealing with automobiles.
