Wow, sorry to break it to you but here in South Africa we actually do know that the entire North American continent isn't the USA.

Speaking of which a really good friend lives in Edmonton.

Speaking about it earlier with the lady, anywhere warm with good work is a great starting point. Even though I think it's terrible from an e30 point warm and wet = rust. Sadly I'm addicted to these silly cars.

So we have decided to try and organise a holiday visa stay with the family in Boston, maybe catch a Rangers game, and Braves game in their respective cities keep an eye out for e30's for sale. Make a decision from there.

Someone asked about Europe, well she does have an EU passport, but I can't live in Portugal, Spain or France... I don't speak the language and they are full of crap when it comes to employing people from other countries in Europe, let alone another continent.

I have family in Austria, but i'm not so keen on the cold weather, even though I know I would love the tracks in Europe (viz: The Green Hell), the work and cost of living and climate doesn't do it for me.

Just please for fucks sake dont adapt the Bostonian accent.... Its cool until I realize its from the same city that is home to the Celtics.... It is really funny (not in a condescending way) to listen to, unlike New Yorks which is simply repugnant and repulsive. I think itd be interesting to see what a SA/Boston hybrid (which will inevitably happen) would sound like, so disregard my comment altogether. My cousin (who is a raging waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles, btw) went to school in Boston or thereabouts (NorthEastern U) and came back talking like them as if she was born there. She completely adopted it.

True. Great jobs, low taxes, excellent cheap housing, and killer barbeque on every corner. However Texas is culturally opposite from the East coast or West coast states. Very politically conservative, and the folks there are not always that welcoming to "Yankees" (non-Texans) of which you would be one.

If you have never been in the USA, you should really spend a month and drive a big loop, because North, South, East, and West are extremely different in looks (green vs. desert) culture, attitudes, climate, and acceptance of outsiders.

Look before you leap. Work visas can be hard to obtain - do you have that worked out yet?

Don't move to Cleveland. We have winter, and lots of it :)

That said, the cost of living is cheap and being by Mid-Ohio & Nelson Ledges is nice (tracks).

You California naysayers are looking at it all wrong from the OP's perspective.

If you are planning on immigrating to the USA, immigrate illegally and come to California. We'll provide your food, housing, healthcare, education, and we won't even check your ID at voting booths so you can vote and be part of our democratic process! Plus, free blowjobs from taxpayers, anytime, day or night! Our weather is alright too.

yes your tubular CA's are what I was referring to. You could get away with them here in Indiana but it's questionable in a state where they do a more " intense" inspection. The shit people get away with here in Indy is crazy. Driving with no bumpers, purple headlights, license plate in a 5% tinted rear window. it's fucking ridiculous. That being said, if I got pulled over with a hydraulic ebrake, my car would get towed immediately(my buddy is a state sheriff). just check state laws. They vary quite a bit.

I grew up there (All around the valley) me and my mom both suffered with allergies for like 8 months outa the year. Although it's not a green state, being so dry and having plants bloom all year round killed us. Moved to Nor-Cal and went 4 years without so much as a sniffle.

I haven't been there for 9 years so I don't know how the market is, my sister lives there now but she had to sell her house once she started having kids during the worst of the ression and money was tight.

On the good side for AZ, just as gun friendly as Texas... But while I was living there we had road rage up the ass, and guns + road rage = bad times.
This is so true. With that being said, Arizona has one of the most versatile environments around. Live in phoenix and want to see snow? Hour drive. Want forest and mountains? Another hour drive. The southern parts are desert and the northern is mountainous and forest. Climate is dry, although we do get copious amounts of rain in the summer seasons. Laws on cars are more lenient as well. No emissions where I am from. It really is a beautiful state, but if you do have allergies it can be bad. Fortunately I don't. Gun laws are spectacular too, They just passed a law that one does not need a license to conceal a gun, lol.

Don't bother moving to the following areas...
California....the place is a huge shit hole. There are nice places to live but the politics will kill anything that's a positive.

                              NY....obvious...another shit hole.

Portland...where they think the rail and bike paths are more important than childrens education.

Texas has it rocking compared to other states....my suggestion for work and a happier life if you have a choice. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter, depending on where you live.

Auto shops are everywhere and are pretty busy most of the time.

                              Good luck!

Hate to say it but...California is the best place in the world, just sayin... :D
Just kidding. Although it is my favorite place, it's expensive.
Even as a kid born and raised here, the shitty job market is very visible.
Memphis, Tennessee. Austin, Texas. Oregon. Washington State. Florida.
All great states to live in.
Your E30 shouldn't be too hard to import, it's not a touring or anything.
Florida would be the easiest place to register them in.
                                Good luck!
