Three houses away from me, they can only max out at 1.5m/sec. There is a lot of old copper pair that just isn't enough. They say that upgrades are planned after this 10 year regional plan ends in 2018.
Why not Europe...Let's face it, USA economy is all kinds of f-ed up right now.
The European economy is in far worse shape than that of the USA right now. Except for Germany (and good luck immigrating there), the whole EU is going down the sh1tter.
I'm kinda leaning towards Texas...but the 1st thing to ask is which tracks are close by and how is BMWCCA Club racing and SCCA GTS racing around there?
No decent circuits in Texas. If racetracks are important to you, you'll want to look at the northeast or mid-Atlantic regions. For example, I live in northern NJ. Pretty easy access to some world-class circuits within a 10-hr drive, including Mosport, Mont-Tremblant, Watkins Glen, Calabogie, VIR, Summit Point, Mid-Ohio, and Lime Rock.
So we have decided to try and organise a holiday visa stay with the family in Boston, maybe catch a Rangers game, and Braves game in their respective cities keep an eye out for e30's for sale. Make a decision from there.
Don't be seduced by Boston. Every foreigner who visits Boston for the weekend falls in love with it. But it pretty much sucks to live there. Incredibly high cost of living and nothing much to do (unless you love the Red Sox). Everything closes early; last call at bars is 1am. It's the worst of all worlds: you pay big city prices for a small town lifestyle.
Maybe I would have liked it as a college student, but I was there as a single, young professional (a medical doctor in my early 30's). I was bored out of my mind within 6 months.
you really are disadvantaged in today's society without access to the internet. look how much money we all save by having access to r3v for example. or pelicanparts diy. or blunt.
farbin, you said 3 houses away they get 1.5mbit/s... what do you get?
The highest available in the more populous area is 15mb/s Cable. I live in the boonies, so no cable, DSL only out here. I had 50mb/s in CA. I do know what I'm missing.
why do you guys like to live in such small communities? Personally I can't too many people with not enough to do so they stick their nose into my business. Added bonus for me is that I'm a busy body, I struggle too just sit down and do nothing. So living close or in a city I love. I can always find something to do.
I agree.
With all this L.A. hate going on, Id like to put things into perspective. There is a tradeoff with everything in life. Small town has small-town problems, big city has big-city problems. WHat kind of problems do you want to inherit? To me, all this traffic and smog, and earthquakes that happen once every 15 years are worth it. It all depends on what youre willing to take. Im not going to hate on the small towns and middle america or anything like that. Im sure its absolutely beautiful AND much less restrictive. But where else can you find beautiful weather, and have the difference between skiing or surfing in 1.5 hours distance? The sheer multitude of cultures here (unless youre against experiencing the best of other cultures) is second to none. Just know that Cali is becoming more and more fascist and that is so sad knowing what the state has potential for....
