    Part you hate removing

Title says it ALL, I will start: Trailing arms(let me explain)

    Back story:
I am selling my DD to a member and the rear bearings are toast from tracking. So I bought new ones to replace them. Turns out they are froze solid(puller and impact) So bought arms from a 91 318is. New bearings and SMOOTH as can be.

    Onto the HATE:
So got the axels out and cables/lines disconnected. Here is the HATE, rear trailing arms that have solid frozen bolts. Nothing I could do, heat/impact nothing would get the bolt to move. Nuts came off easy. So long story short I had to drop the whole FUCKING subframe. No way in the world was I blowing the heads off with the torch =)

So I hate trailing arms more than ANYTHING on the e30. I have pulled and swapped an M20 in 5 hours. Spent 6 hours hitting walls when I should have just dropped the rear.

Edit: I have removed the subframe from every e30 I have owned. This one was a fucking nightmare...

Anything related to the rear suspension. Subframe, trailing arms, rear wheel bearings, e-brake, diff, half shafts.

      I hate it all.

that's funny... it was my first time taking them all off and i didn't have any problems at all. took the trail arms off first, then the subframe with a jack on the diff.

now putting them back together might be a different story.

Try doing it in NY with a rear that has never been touched. I bought one from cali as my track build. SO EASY, everything came free and I fell in love =)

P.S. The e30 I am working on has never seen a winter. I have no clue how those rear bolts became solid.

                        Rear wheel bearings.

Mainly because the half shafts were seized in the splines. I hit one with a 20lb sledge for 45min and it didn't move..

I then went to Home Depot and rented a Hilti electric jack hammer.

                        It moved.

I dont understand how some people can't get 2 joined items to separate. I've never come across something that I wasn't not able to separate. Air hammers, hydraulics, acetylene torches, bfh's, and will power always work. Also a small knowledge of mechanical engineering physics can help (understanding deformation, metalurgy, etc.)
Ma che cazzo state dicendo? :|

really? that is the easiest thing ever. put key in. put thin metal object in (i used a finishing nail from a nail gun.) turn key. tap metal object with a hammer. done.

                              it just pops out.
