Differentials. Again, not a hard job. Just something I don't enjoy doing and regardless of how easy it should be, as soon as my ass gets involved it's suddenly a 7 hour job.Leave a comment:

I've come to realize e30s are extremely simple to work on. The hardest thing I had to do was replace the oil pump, which involved suspending the engine and dropping the subframe. However, that still only took a couple hours at most.
I'm in an Audi Coupe Quattro now and man are these things a bitch to work on. I had to take the front end and secondary radiator (yes... SECONDARY RADIATOR) off just to line up the timing marks on the cam. What I thought was a 10min job turned into a 2 hour ordeal. PoopLeave a comment:

I guess I got lucky. The first and only time I did it, the car only had 63k miles on it so everything was still in good shape. Now I am doing it all over again on my DD which is about 180K miles old. Oh yeah and impact tools help a lot.Leave a comment:

Transmissions and heater cores. The last heater core that went out on me just got taken out of the loop. $600 for a shop to replace it or or or or me break every piece of old plastic car taking it out for replacement.Leave a comment:

I dont understand how some people can't get 2 joined items to separate. I've never come across something that I wasn't not able to separate. Air hammers, hydraulics, acetylene torches, bfh's, and will power always work. Also a small knowledge of mechanical engineering physics can help (understanding deformation, metalurgy, etc.)Leave a comment:

Rear wheel bearings.
Mainly because the half shafts were seized in the splines. I hit one with a 20lb sledge for 45min and it didn't move..
I then went to Home Depot and rented a Hilti electric jack hammer.
It moved.Leave a comment:
