what kind of hitch do you have man? My P.O. installed a HD trailer hitch on my car so I just drove from the very west of texas from san diego back to san diego with a trailer full of shit. e30 made it no problem even though I had to drive like 40 mph over some hills :(

You should get another quote, $1600 does not sound right.

U-haul aint the only company that rents moving trucks and such. There always budget ya know. Look into one of those companies like pack rat or something like that.

My fiance's moving to Pocatelo for school and Uhaul was twice the money of Budget to rent a truck to drive over there.

I will be moving to Oregon from Florida and I've wondered about this as well.. you've got to remember.. U-Haul rental + mileage + gas in one of their shitty non-diesel trucks.. terrible. I would look into all of your alternatives.. Ryder, Budget, or U-Haul if you need a BIG truck.

Or, if you are a masterpacker and can afford to ditch some stuff.. rent a "cargo van" from like enterprise or one of the other car rental places.. (like a Chevy VAN, not a box van.) and just tow the e30 (packed with shit) and you'll probably save money and gas in the long run.

                Whatever you decide, good luck.

well the original plan was to tow the e30 with a cargo van, but according to the u-haul website only the box truck is a towing option. I think im just gonna pack up the e30 with everything that can fit and hit the road.

LA to Idaho, 26ft UHAUL w/12x6 trailer cost me $2900, and about $500 in gas. I still left a ton of stuff. For reference, that was a 1000 mile move. Had I used a mover, it was in the 6-9K region, depending on if I packed the boxes and loaded the truck or not.

Look into PODs, or UHAUL now has shipping of moving crates you load yourself. My neighbor moved Georgia to Idaho, three UHAUL "pods" and spent ~$1900.

EDIT: This thread, multiple proofs of PNW conspiracy.

^ lol. A hitch is what? $400 to put on?

You can BUY a trailer for under $500. http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/for/2499352994.html

Then sell it when you get where you're going

5toes, i didnt understand what you meant at first. I think im just gonna only take what i really need/can get in the e30 and just buy new shit when i get out there.

Gotcha. Still thogh buying a trailer isnt a bad idea, because it can be sold when you get there. Spokane is an area BIG on powersports... so they like these trailers for dirtbikes, etc.
