I just check CL all the time, there are also a lot more around my area. All the good deals will sell pretty quick. Some of the 4-5k ones you are finding might be worth trying to talk down the price. If you find one around my area I can go look at it for you.Comment

My vote is for a cherokee. I had a 2000 Cherokee Classic for about 5 years, and the thing was bulletproof aside from little wiring issues with the windows and stereo.
Plus it's a fast little truck! Perfect for guys used to the nimble E30s.-Brandon

Definitely looking into a cherokee for myself, to handle my upcoming flagstaff winters.
Two of my buddies have em, and even though they drive like crazy bastards the jeeps never stop pounding the pavement. And the dirt. And the rocks. And the water. You get the point. My previous build (currently E30-less)

I can think of at least 7 Pipe line survey crews that use P38's for both lay out and as builds . Along with 4 Wind farm survey and engineering guys. They go anywhere and do it well and in style and the Hill decent while primitive is great on steep muddy and snowy slippery Right of ways to keep you from wadding your self up in the weeds at the bottomOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I find the Disco's blockier look and steeper entry/exit angles appeal to me more. would kill someone for a sweet Defender I think.Comment

yeah I want a defender, but even a imported 84 85 86 imported one is going to run 12k on the lower side. A NAS spec one in decent shape start in the mid 20's

Cherokee all day. I sold my last one and got my E30 actually and regret it. One of the best bang for your buck SUV/capable 4X4's you can buy. Watch for floor rot though, mine looked good but after digging into it, had some serious floor cancer.91 318is M50 swapped

I have owned the first three gernerations of 4Runner. 3rd Gen is the best so far and the last generation to be available with a standard trans. Can't beat them, good in the city awsome off road. Very reliable and easy to re sell. I have the 4cyl 2.7 ltr with standard trans because I am mostly in the city. Good on gas and fun to drive.Comment
