One correction if someone else hasn't already.
Those tires in the Op are Kumho V700 tires. They say Ecsta on the sidewall and the tread pattern is the V700...and you can barely make out the 700 on the front tire. It's a "semi-race" tire basically.

Part of my incentive to sell my e30 is that I'd rather have a miata as a dedicated track rat.

Holy fuck are they fun cars to drive, and they do handle well. They're not that gutless compared to my normal DD, but they aren't exactly fast....not that it matters at all, they're just so damn fun to drive. Folks who call them gay just haven't driven them.

Good eye. I realized they weren't SP2000s but never corrected it. Looks like they're 235/45r13 V700s.

They handle great! They seem to be able to get out of their way just fine too. I don't see a problem.

I will tell you one thing.

that miata's Handling, RAPED everything available domestically in NA at the time that wasnt built in Germany or italy or cost 3 x as much.

they are popular for a reason, also maybe 1% of car owners track their cars...

I didn't ever race it on a track, so this might not mean anything, because we all know, it only counts if you do it on a race track...

the Miata may not be a MANLY ride, but honestly nobody can say it isn't an enthusiasts car with good handling characteristics.

also, no shit it is underpowered, so was every roadster that it was based on.
                    THIS.

Ive owned 4 miatas. Yes they are underpowered, but for a reason.
Great suspension geometry make this car the ideal track slut. why do auto-x guys race em?

And chill out with the bashing, this thread is starting to sound like every other thread found on Honda-tech.com; that are filled with teeny boppers, he said, she said's, and kids that dont even know how to change their own oil...

most miata owners that would really wanna see results in power would obviously boost due to low compression the BP motors make. common sense

how would that make your 200k, 150hp, 150lbs tq E30 look then?

With such a small displacement, short gear ratio, and poorly flowing head, chassis made of wood boosting a miata is pointless. Have you seen a 1/4 time on a boosted miata? Hello 14 secs..

If they allowed SpecE30 cars to match the weight of SpecMiata (2275). We'd blow them out of the water. I would even say close to Honda Challenge or GTS3 lap times. But what do you know? You're simply a fagina poser.

LMAO!!! My FMII boosted Miata (running 15 psi) ran in the high 12's, with traps of 111-12 mph. Stock bottom end. My wooden chassis, boosted limp noodle would run rings around STi's and EVOs, and play all day with Z06's, on the road course as well.

And if you were to let the SpecE30 go down in weight, what happens when you let the Miata go down in weight?

Oh, and before you ask what would I know... I have driven a track prepped E30, a track prepped boosted Miata, a track prepped NA Miata... and I am an instructor. At two local tracks.

Funny thing. To me, the E30 and Miata are stable mates. Both have lively, go kart like handling, and are underpowered for their weight. The Miata has a lower center of gravity, but the E30 is stiffer. Either way, both are a blast to drive on track, or on a curvy back road.

So, stop being such a fucking tool. Attitudes like yours, regarding one of the best selling.. heck, best PERIOD... entry level sports cars of all time, is what makes people think BMW drivers are pricks.
